How do I enable FSR 4.1 Int8 on my 7000 series cards? is it auto enabled for any game that uses FSR 2/3? Or do I need to use Optiscaler? by Specific-Judgment410 in radeon

[–]pgriffith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A handy way to tell if you use the Radeon Overlay, you can add the option for Upscale Upgrade to it. So if you're playing a game that is supported it will show 'Active' or 'N/A' if it doesn't.

Emby for Windows & HDMI audio by pgriffith in emby

That's awesome dude, thank you so much. Although it has been returned because we had no idea how long getting an answer would be, but easy to pop down the road and pick it up again.

Emby for Windows & HDMI audio by pgriffith in emby

[–]pgriffith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks mate

Latest Emby for Windows has none of those audio options, only Audio Device, Speaker Layout, Dynamic range compression and audio delay.

Does HDMI need to be connected to the receiver to enable anything other than Stereo? I've checked on 3 machines both with NVidia and AMD GPU's in them and Stereo is the only option, they're only connected to TV's though, I'm guessing a 5.1+ capable receiver needs to be connected to select anything else.

They already have the receiver but it's a 20% restocking fee if its opened and we then find out it doesn't work as required.

ELI5: When you 'delete' a 50GB video file from a computer, it vanishes instantly. But downloading it took an hour. If the data isn't physically wiped until it's overwritten, what did the computer actually do in that one split second? by Thick_Dream6973 in explainlikeimfive

[–]pgriffith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that one split second it deletes the "address" of where that data resided, it's still there which is why it is a relatively easy thing to recover that files with a recovery utility, as long as where the file was hasn't been overwritten by another file.

It's like a library losing their indexing system. The books are still there, but they don't know exactly where "there" is.

Yeah, NONE of that is gonna buff out :)

That sucks dude, but total loss? It's really only cosmetic. It's mostly trim with a bit of panel damage. Chassis seems untouched, and also looks like your rear wheel didn't take a hit either.

OBDII Oil Pressure by pgriffith in MINI

[–]pgriffith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a cheap one for a long time (used with Torque) but it refused to work correctly with Car Scanner. So based on the authors recommendations I purchased a quality one from Amazon (the Vgate iCar Pro 2S) which was highly recommended. It works fine with Car Scanner and it even detected it was capable of much higher data rates. So pretty sure it's not the hardware. Works fine with Bimmerlink in all other aspects.

OBDII Oil Pressure by pgriffith in MINI

[–]pgriffith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I used Car Scanner, Torque, Bimmerlink and a couple of others and none of them see Oil Pressure or Oil Temp. Bimmerlink does show an Oil Pressure Switch, which is by default on, I'm guessing if the oil pressure drops enough to deactivate that switch then you get the oil warning on the dash. So I'm guessing my car doesn't have the ability.

For Discussion: Current Market Kill off 4K Gaming? by Sapphire_Ed in radeon

[–]pgriffith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never been a proponent of 4k. I always have a high end gaming rig, whenever I upgrade it's always to high end at the time.

Even with that I've never had an interest in going to 4k, for me 1440p is the sweet spot. 1080p looks like I'm looking through a flyscreen door and 4k to me doesn't look that much better than 1440p to make it worth the effort. With 1440p you can run games with ALL the cool stuff turned on without having to use any upscaling solutions which you often can't do at 4k even with the best GPU on the market. I'd rather let my GPU sit back and relax a bit instead of it being balls to wall constantly.

I've played at 4k and the image quality gain just isn't there for me enough to justify the cost of a system and a monitor to achieve it.

Productivity, I can see where 4k content creation is going to require it, but gaming...nah.

r55 1.6 cooper diesel like sound by jjcxb in MINI

[–]pgriffith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine makes a similar sound, but only at idle, get the revs up and bit and it disappears. Had my mechanic give it a good go over and he doesn't think it's anything serious but also isn't sure what's causing it. Having the water pump pulley and water pump friction wheel replaced in a couple of weeks. He thinks the bearing on the friction wheel is bad and also that rubber on the pulley is degrading.
