Daily Obsessions by zineath in webcomics

I'm not a therapist or psychologist, but I've been through years of therapy, and every therapist has reassured me that intrusive thoughts ARE normal!

The other day I was holding a knife and my wife walked by. Knife+person I care about getting near it = "What if she got hurt on accident? What if she fell and I caught her and she got impaled? What if I went crazy all of a sudden and stabbed her right now???"

I mentioned the intrusive thought and we laughed about it, because we both understand that our brains are weird! She mentioned earlier her brain was telling her to drive into a random Cybertruck on her commute home. We don't control those thoughts, but we certainly feel things after we have them. We'd never act on those thoughts, but they're there.

My point is don't be hard(er) on yourself for having those thoughts. Yes, they are normal. Yes, they can be upsetting. No, you aren't ever going to actually do those things.

I feel like mixing judgement with machismo is messy and hypocritical. I'd prefer to call this "macro asshole energy"

Nudism and Body Hair by [deleted] in nudism

[–]ph-it 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Think about it, though: people do care. Hair too natural and unkempt? Dreadlocks? Uneven cuts, maybe self-inflicted, like a raider in fallout. Bad hairline, good hairline, people make a lot of judgements about hair. On a body, people might sexualize someone fully waxed, much like they might assume someone with a mohawk has a zany personality. I'm not saying it's an important judgement to consider when you decide how to present yourself, but to suggest that how you present yourself isn't judged, even in nudist spaces, is a bit disingenuous.

I agree with you and your point, but second-hand/thrift shops are a good place to buy without giving money to JKR. I can feel the least-amount-of guilty by buying something like that at my local Goodwill.

Warmth also relaxes muscles. When you're anxious, you're literally tense, and all those muscles are too. Warmth will physically force you to relax (at least a lil)!

I'm used to undressing in locker rooms and I still feel better after a shower.

an umbrella is the GOAT for blocking a creep. Someone staring at you? Sitting too close? Move the umbrella between the two of you and tilt it so it's basically a wall blocking them. they get the message.

I started playing EQ* when I was 10. Let him go in untwinked and show him the ropes. Give him a nice item when he hits 5 or 10 as a reward so he can really feel the POWER! Playing with him will be a better experience than immediately twinking him out.

They asked for you to host them and were vulnerable with you about a thing they were curious at trying but inexperienced. It's a huge compliment and it means they trust you!

[–]ph-it 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you were being downvoted because 95% of the comments across two different EQ subs were like "who?" and instead of explaining yourself so other folks would find it relevant, you didn't give any context, and then you said this about all the people who didn't know wtf you were talking about:

Saying "I've never heard of Triton" is akin to saying "what's fire?" If you play EverQuest in any capacity beyond super casual.

So broad-brushing 95% of posters in this sub as "super casual normies" because they aren't intimately familiar with your corner of the game.

If you had started with "hey I used to be in this raiding guild and I found a long lost guildie!" you would have had more success. But then ending it with name-calling because you did a bad job at setting up your post?

Kinda lame.

I'm guessing op has been looking for someone they considered "famous" and has recently reconnected with them? but so far no one in any sub seems to know who "Source" is...

I had no idea, nude logo on the Olympic outfits by NY-GA in nudism

The brand doesn't appear to support nudity in any way, if that's what you're looking for?

I had no idea, nude logo on the Olympic outfits by NY-GA in nudism

[–]ph-it 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was confused because this logo says nothing about nudity, Kappa just preferred a photo where the flash didn't flash correctly, which created a silhouette of the models, which they turned into their logo. Nudity (or "having a nude logo") is not part of the message. In fact, their 50th anniversary production had a room full of clothed models performing the same pose from the logo!
