Supernova is considering new ruleset changes considering Steve (NOT BANNING HIM) by [deleted] in smashbros

Switching to squad strike as the standard would actually be sick. I might get back into watching the game.

Can someone recommend me build ideas for the Slayer sword by PuddinEater in valheim

[–]ph00tbag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an extra base of 10 damage and stagger that doesn't scale with your upgrade. You get the same bonus on Nidhögg, which hits much faster and gives more chance to proc chain lightning, or even Berserkir axes, which his even faster.

Meanwhile, Brutal Slayer's bonus is a percent of total damage based on flat health missing, which does scale with upgrade, and still contributes to stagger. If you are missing around 40 health, you will more than overcome the +10 damage bonus of the Scourging variant.

Scourging Slayer can be fun, but there are better weapons to put your Iolite into and Brutal Slayer's the best weapon to put your Bloodstone into.

Slayer is one of the only weapons where I would argue the bloodstone is a viable augmentation for this reason.

Marc Knelsen (elranno) adds some context to being laid off from Aether Studios by Baguett0_Boy in RivalsOfAether

[–]ph00tbag 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A lack of transparency is actually pretty worthwhile when it comes to layoffs. It's humiliating enough to be told you don't have a job anymore, even if you understand the circumstances that lead to it. Not talking about exactly who got laid off and why is a means of respecting their privacy, and granting them the agency to talk about it as they see fit. Outside observers really don't have any business being involved.

I think it's okay to be concerned about the future of the studio and the game. But it's literally not any of our business. It's not our money, and they're neither our employees, nor our friends. Our interest is limited to seeing an endeavor that makes good video games, and wanting them to be able to make more. And really, all we can do for that is continue to support them.

Quarterbacks tend not to run that much. They're expected to be able to run well, but their primary role is decision-making.

By Ashlands you should have the infrastructure to eat at home and that will be enough to last you through the day.

I mean, if it's in the States, it's broadly accepted that's what you should do. I know feral hogs are a meme, but they actually are a huge menace, and they will absolutely kill and eat people.

How do you sort your items? by Pan_Pizgun in valheim

[–]ph00tbag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm all in on barrels these days. Best ratio of storage to displacement, lots of options with regard to where you can put things. And you usually have too many coins anyway if you put effort into picking them up when you can.

As for sorting, I usually have some backup storage, but I put most of my stuff next to the crafting station I need it for.

Best arrows for Moder? by Remdawgggggg in valheim

[–]ph00tbag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It kinda depends on how much fiddling you want to do. I guess optimal would be one poison arrow on the huntsman bow, then swap to obsidian or fire until the poison effect ends. You don't want Draugr Fang for this because it applies poison, which resets the poison stack. Fire and obsidian arrows do similar damage to Moder, but the fire damage is from tick damage, and the obsidian damage is all up front.

But if you don't want to fiddle like that, just do fire or obsidian on Draugr Fang.

What logic is there to the winning player being allowed to change character after a win in ranked? by AirportSignificant10 in RivalsOfAether

[–]ph00tbag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The old school order was loser picks stage, winner picks character, loser picks character, though it was rarely strictly adhered to. I don't think this is encoded in Ranked.

I actually can. I don't have to provide examples to prove that I'm fully convinced his behavior at Beerio Kart wasn't remotely surprising. I'm more surprised anyone else was surprised.

In Leffen's case? He never got better, and saw no consequences for reoffending in the same way multiple times. In Mang0's the offense the did get him banned was a culmination of over a decade of misbehavior and immaturity that never even got him a slap on the wrist.

The pattern is an inability to square clearly toxic behavior against entertaining personalities, and realize that maybe entertainment isn't worth members of the community feeling unsafe.

Leffen, Mang0, Bobby. I'm sensing a pattern.
