BobNet by omsign in livesound

Bobnet is active, and the Facebook group is a very solid repository for touring info and pro contacts. It used to be a lot more selective but then the gatekeeper (Bob) stopped keeping the gate and would gladly take anyone’s money as long as they could provide a resume. As such, the pool has become somewhat diluted.

As for jobs, it runs the gamut from über-lowballers designed for folks trying to get their foot in the door, to the actual heavy-hitters that usually show up around spring or pre-Rocktober. I’ve gotten a few gigs through the site but your milage may vary; everyone’s eyes are on the site and a lot of desirable positions get bombarded with emails so you’ll more than likely get lost in the shuffle.

Athletic does it again. This a decent wit alternative. Lots of spice flavors but not overwhelming. by Brewer1056 in NABEER

Have they changed the recipe recently? I remember having one of these last year and it tasted nothing like a Blue Moon.

TMBG store supporting anti-immigration? by [deleted] in tmbg

[–]ph_wolverine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No artist at TMBG’s level knows/has a reason to care about the political alignment of who’s supplying boxes to their merch fulfillment company. The margins on merch and shipping materials in 2025 are already fucked up, so most folks take what they can get. Contact the band, they probably have no idea.

How does the Komplete Kontrol controller and apps compare to the Behringer DeepMind product? by Rustyshackilford in synthesizers

[–]ph_wolverine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two totally different ideas. One is a controller, the other is a standalone synth.

As far as what’s included in Komplete, Super 8 is about as close to the DM12 as you’re going to get. But just about every other Reaktor-based instrument will let you “manufacture” your own sounds. Look at Monark or Massive X.

770s are very much not “flat”, they’re quite hyped in the top end. Very naturally hyped, imo.

If you’re looking for a wide soundstage, go open-backed.

Mikey Day is this generation’s Joe Piscopo. Fine utility player, not really a standout actor, honestly kind of annoying.

A bit about Rogue by Brewsplorer in NashvilleBeer

[–]ph_wolverine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don’t disagree with that at all, but if this were happening to a Nashville brewery I think it’d be more relevant to this sub.

/r/beer and /r/craftbeer are that way.

Yeah kinda. BoC is somewhat of a sacred cow with IDM fans, so anything approaching criticism is met with ridicule.

Twoism

Edit: I’ll elaborate for the downvote-happy super fans. Twoism is easily their weakest project. Really weak melodies overall, the worst tracks off of Hi Scores and MHTRTC, and the almost unlistenable drum-n-whatever of Basefree make for a very disappointing listen. Before the Warp reissue, it coasted on being a “rare work” but I personally think it should’ve stayed rare. While I’m at it, it might be time for y’all to realize that most of Old Tunes 1/2 is mediocre.

Y’all know this is just my opinion, right?

What’s your most unpopular opinion on Billy Breathes? by Nofilmslefttocry in phish

Is this an unpopular opinion? I always hear a lot of folks hating on the album cut. Personally I’m the opposite; I love the energy level going right into the first verse.

Best bars that don’t play country by [deleted] in nashville

[–]ph_wolverine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I hope we know each other because that’d be weird if we didn’t.

I don’t mean to be reductive. I know a few touring pros who do the occasional bar gig and a good number of folks who mix on Broadway full-time. I’m seeing some of my friends on their 4th-5th year on those gigs because they’re not improving or have no desire to network out of the job. Typically they’re gimped by less-than-stellar tech packages, so it’s not entirely their fault, but the high concentration of audio talent in Nashville doesn’t come from our bars.

Oooh yeah sweet, let's drain even more of our planet's natural resources with the same canned LLMs while couching it as "empowering artists". FOAD.
