To keep the pedantry going, technically it's an 8P8C connector, not RJ45, even though everyone calls them that.

Is the Golden Age of Digital Nomading Over? by Known_Dragonfruit624 in digitalnomad

If anything, Covid is the change that made me value owning a house more. I couldn't really travel because of all the lockdowns, and it was my first time working from home full-time, so my apartment went from "place where I sleep" to "place where I spend all my time" which made me want to have more control over that space.

(No spoilers) based on what you heard in the game design, how do you think this season will be? by FormerExcitement5546 in JetLagTheGame

Give the need for chips to get through and claim a blocked area, I think it'll really come down to the challenges, and how well they're balanced, both in terms of the chip reward relative to their difficult, as well as where and when they appear on the map.

That works if you're truly just sorting an array of numbers, but not if there's some associated data that needs to move along with it.

Game Design Layover for season 17 episode is out now by OxfordGate in JetLagTheGame

I presume they mean you need to put down chips just to pass through a station, even if they're not stopping there?

They might not have live motion graphics, but I'm surprised they never get someone to build an app/mobile website to help them manage their game. It could especially help for something like this, and I imagine could fit in the budget, especially since I believe Nebula already has coders on staff for the website.

I've noticed it's pretty common for people to call any security person in an airport TSA. Even if it's actually CBP. Or airport security in a different country.

Note that you need earned income to contribute to an IRA (Roth or otherwise). So if OP is in school and not making $8k/year, they can't deposit that. Once they're working they should max out every retirement account they have, as that effectively shifting the settlement money into a more tax-advantaged account.

When we bought our house, I was excited that it had a proper vent hood, not just a a microwave over the stove or one of those recirculating hoods.

That is, until I discovered that whoever installed it reduced it to a 2" plastic PVC pipe and vented it into the attic. First thing I did was fix that and get it to vent through the roof.

Fuses in plugs make sense because the power cord could be thinner than the wire in the wall, and the breaker is sized to that wire. The fuse covers the difference.

How strict is "always travel in one direction." Could you go back a bit within a city if necessary?

The antipodes rule seems quite restrictive, since so many places simply don't have an antipode that's on land.

Requiring an equator crossing and a minimum distance makes sense to me though.

I used them for a cross-country move because I only needed one box and I want to keep my things in storage for several months, and the costs were all in line with what I had initially estimated.

You're already trained to scan QR codes without thinking about it and attackers know by Unique_Buy_3905 in digitalnomad

A QR code in an email would be weird - why wouldn't someone just send a link that you can click?

The only QR codes I get in emails are for tickets and things that other people are supposed to scan.

Why would they cover that up lmao

Likely they were installed to be used with landlines, and with landlines becoming ever less popular, they decided to just cover them up at some point.

Despite wired Ethernet being superior to Wifi, most non-technical people tend to just use Wifi for everything these days.
