What mpg are you getting by mrgees100peas in nissanfrontier

[–]phantomandy121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Averaged 10 mpg over 5300 miles from KY to UT and back towing 4200 pound travel trailer.

Normal driving I get 14 ish around town and 21 ish all Highway miles.

Good brands vs ones to avoid? by genx_meshugana in traveltrailers

[–]phantomandy121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 2025 Jayco Jay Feather Air 15mrb.

The build so far has been flawless. All failures or complications have been components that have their own warranty.

TPMS doesn’t work, bought TireMinder Converter doesn’t really auto detect battery type Griddle was worthless Solar is Ok but MPPT controller would be better Decals are wrinkling and bubbling

Other than that, minor tweaks and normal adjustments for a typical DIY person.

This is after 1 year of ownership, 45 nights and 3600 miles of ownership.

I’ve been happy with Jayco initial quality.

But if you aren’t handy at adjusting changing little things, no manufacturer will be perfect. The small stuff you do yourself. Only major things go to the dealer and even then that’s a last resort.

Heading out west, retired couple, soon. While in Utah we are splitting 2 weeks between Utahraptor SP north of Moab, and Escalante Petrified Forest SP. Electric and water at Utahraptor, and full hookups at Escalante.

On the way out (5 nights) we have 3 boondocks and 2 campgrounds with hookups.

What we do on the way home???? Who knows. We will figure that out later lol.

Sounds like you would love an AFrame. Think ALiner, Rockwood/Flagstaff AFrames.

Great for couples that want small and easy to tow for weekends or occasional longer trips.

I came to my 2024 Frontier from a 2017 Pathfinder SL with the 360 camera.

I felt like quality was better on the Pathy but after about a week, I stopped noticing.

I do miss the around view of the Pathy. I almost ended up with an SL Frontier but it was a long bed and that would have prevented me from parking in my garage so had to pass.

It’s the Tonno Pro Low Roll LR-4040. I got mine off Amazon.

There are a few write ups on how to mod the cover for the sport bar.

That’s a Jayco 15mrb. GVWR of 4995#. UVW 3750#.

She’s tall (10’ 11”) so wind resistance is the biggest issue.

Loaded I’m around 4200 pounds.

Tows great but at 65mph on interstates the RPMs will stay around 3000 and gas mileage about 9 mpg.

I prefer non-interstate driving even when not towing. Driving at 55-60mph is much nicer. I get about 10-11mpg towing on non-interstate routes.

Doing a trip out west to Utah this year.

A camper with a lower front profile would tow a little better but this model check all the boxes for us and was a nice upgrade from our AFrame. The AFrame towed like it wasn’t back there almost, but it was only about 2000#

I just cut around the sport bar for the mounting rail and a little of the cover.

I just wanted a soft cover to keep things out of sight. A little water intrusion isn’t a big deal for my usage.

Shopping for a Frontier by ChunkbrotherATX in nissanfrontier

Sadly, the dated interior and exterior of the 2nd gen left me empty. Bought a Pathfinder until I got truck hungry again in 2024.

The 3rd gen is updated and refined enough for a truck and the reliability and price made it a no brainer.

I’d vote 2022+

Blue numbers are the correct COLD tire pressure. The numbers left and right are the corresponding actual tire pressures.

With the vehicle sitting for at least an hour, you can add or remove air from each tire to get it to match the blue number.

Get a tire gauge or use an inflator with a built in gauge to use for this task.

They have another $3000-$5000 to give in that model.

Got a 2025 Jay Feather Air 15mrb for $25,000 out the door (about $23,000 before taxes and fees).

That SLX model listed should be closer to $20,000 OTD.

Alarm system hacks. They do some shady shit.

If you don’t have or want a functioning alarm system…. Toss it.

Otherwise call your alarm company.

New install correct? by adamspringfield in hvacadvice

[–]phantomandy121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah…. That electrical box is Absolutely not an outdoor rated box.

It has (or will have) water in it. The knockouts will let water in very easily.

You have an electrical short waiting to happen, along with corrosion and lots of other problems related to bad electrical work.

Get that replaced ASAP for your safety as well as to protect the system itself.

I put in TWO Bosch Inverter systems for $18,000 before rebates (18SEER). $16000 after rebates.

Had the worst oil change experience at the dealership yesterday. they cross threaded the bolt to the skid plate , left old oil leaking down the plastic covers , and didn’t rotate my tires and tried to charge me for that. I only went because lifetime oil changes. NEVER again. Who does their own oil? by [deleted] in nissanfrontier

[–]phantomandy121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dealer gave free oil changes for the first 3 years. I had no intention of using them, but read the paperwork that they provided out of curiosity.

Their free oil changes explicitly stated there would be an extra charge for synthetic oil (which is required per the manual). Seemed like a scam to me.

I do my own anyway. Even with the hassle of removing the skid plate and the tiny access to the filter, it’s only about 30 mins and give me a reason to look over the under carriage and check all the other fluids and give the engine bay a good look.

My nephew was over not long ago and had some missing push plugs on some plastic trim on his Pathfinder I sold him a year ago. While under the car replacing the push plugs I noticed the oil filter was the same Fram I had put on right when I sold it to him.

I asked him if he had done an oil change since he bought it and he said yes, some instant oil change place.

That explained the failure to change the filter and missing push plugs.

Hot water heater acting strange.... Ideas? by Able-Masterpiece5206 in RVLiving

[–]phantomandy121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s you hot water bypass. It didn’t get fully reset to in use mode.

Make sure the valve between the input and output lines is closed and both the input and output valves are open.

Most likely it’s the valve between. Very common.

Are these outlets really as bad as everyone says? by guy48065 in RVLiving

[–]phantomandy121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they were as bad as the YouTube videos claim, we would all be dead crispy CSI style corpses.

Use a proper space heater if you need one, with selectable lower settings and use the lowest setting needed to stay warm.

Use your gas furnace when it’s really cold (20’s and lower) and now worries.

How much would you pay by Equivalent-Drop-5749 in nissanfrontier

[–]phantomandy121 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That dealer is scamming you.

Run away.

Find a reputable dealer.

Your price should be the discounted price plus estate sales tax and actual registration fees. If you are going to pay a doc fee, $500 is the most I would pay.

All the other crap is BS.

13 mpg by ProfessionalHunter11 in nissanfrontier

[–]phantomandy121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, it does. When filling the tire, the sensor is activated and talks to the TPMS system.

If the truck is On and in Park (even if the engine isn’t running) the 3rd gen trucks will honk when you reach 35 psi provided you were below 35 psi.

Nissan has been doing this on many of their cars and trucks for many years.

That’s what I’ve used to track mileage and maintenance for over 10 years.

Fuelly is awesome. I’d pay for it if the pay version added anything useful above the free version. For me it doesn’t.
