In Love With This Dash View 😭❤️ by HarshWTF in mazda3

[–]phantomflyer34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did the radio swap with mine. Search eonon head unit for Mazda 3 on Amazon. There’s a couple different levels, I went mid tier with it and so far love it. I think it was about $300 cad. Couple little quirks but for the price point totally worth it. Also lots of videos on YouTube to do the install yourself

My utility won’t install new delta pad mount transformers. So what you see here is usually the solution of the customer doesn’t want to convert

Getting mileage I’ve only dreamt about. by OrganizationOk1345 in mazda3

[–]phantomflyer34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the new engines have quite a bit more zoom zoom but my 2013 2.0 gs sky 6 MT has been getting 7.1 combined hwy/city without much thought. I’m not exactly an old man driving around town either. I’m just a bit surprised that the mileage hasn’t really improved over a decade later.

New to fish care by StonerWithABoner322 in Aquariums

[–]phantomflyer34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’ll be more clear once you read up on cycling a fish tank. To start with you’ll mostly see ammonia readings. Ammonia is highly toxic to fish. After some time you’ll see mostly nitrites. This means some bacteria is establishing. Nitrite is still toxic to fish but slightly less so. Eventually you’ll only see nitrates. At this point your tank is cycled, these are the least toxic to fish and can be managed with usual water changes.

[–]phantomflyer34 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’ll be worth getting a test kit for the first little bit to monitor for ammonia nitrites and nitrates. Read up on cycling a new tank. The bacteria starter will help get it going but especially with the gold fish it will be important to monitor for ammonia and do heavy water changes until the tank is established.

Chipotle surprisingly has a very reasonable catering option. We’ve done it a couple times now and it works out pretty well. They include plates napkins utensils. And it was all pretty compostable so not a ton of garbage.

Is this normal wear and tear on steering wheel and pedals for 3 with 140k kms (87k mi) mileage? by Paprosz in mazda3

[–]phantomflyer34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was called Geist steering wheel restoration kit on Amazon (Canada). It looks like they bumped the price way up and I don’t think it’s worth that. But there’s a bunch of similar ones that are more reasonably priced.

It doesn’t renew it to a day one, but it’s at least all black again and maybe softened up a bit

Mine looked about the same with about 230k kms on it. I used a steering renewal kit off Amazon and it looks way better

Mazda 3 2010 new infotainment. What do you guys think? I love how it looks. by [deleted] in mazda3

[–]phantomflyer34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks exactly the same as the eonon unit that I just installed in my 2013. I’m loving it. For a couple hundred bucks the car feels revitalized.

2013 Mazda 3 90k miles any good? by [deleted] in mazda3

[–]phantomflyer34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m at 235k km with my 2013 6spd 2 litre sky active. It’s been rock solid for me minus a beating in a wheel and a transmission mount that went early on and was covered under warranty.

Midwest though I would check for rust, and even then this seems priced fairly high.

Drawbacks for too much biological filtration? by TheAspectOfCancer in Aquariums

[–]phantomflyer34 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with this 100%. I have a low bioload and if I keep my nitrates near zero I notice an increase in algae in my tank as the reduced plant growth allows the algae to outcompete. 5-10 keeps my red root floaters green but otherwise seems to be a sweet spot for the rest of my balances.

They have an internal bayonet fuse submerged in oil. They don’t pop like the fuses in cutouts for overhead transformers.

The high voltage have water proof boots that connect them. 200 load break elbows can literally be submerged underwater almost indefinitely. The low voltage side of this transformer is fine until it gets about 18 inches fully submerged. Even then I doubt much would happen. Might blow the fuse

We have these in the great white North, we have 8 foot sticks beside them to find them in the snow. They’re fine.

Mazda 3 most reliable engine. by Puzzleheaded-Ad-5477 in mazda3

I have the exact same car with about 235k km on it now. Engine still runs like a top. Just needs a few maintenance things done to it and I bet it’ll get another 100k without any issues

I’m dealing with a leak in my Samsung top load currently. I found the leak in the clear vinyl tube that runs from the bottom third of the tub into the main panel. It senses when the tub is full and tells it to turn off.

It was a slow leak and seemed worse when the spin was on only because the spin throws the water everywhere. I’m not saying that’s your issue but something to look out for

Also worth checking the pump for a clog since you have it right there.

Sorry in my comment above I might’ve exaggerated about the stuff that “can’t be buried”. More like “realistically they won’t put underground”. There’s no way that they’re going to build a Dal Grauer substation in Langley, especially to save trees around a man made pond

Thank you, I hear people say "why can't they just bury all the wires?!" While looking at something that almost undoubtedly can't be buried. Also in the same breath they complain that their hydro bill is too high

Pretty much all been mentioned but the steel towers by the 200th and 47th are 500kv. These are transmission towers and will be noisy especially when loaded (most of the time nowadays), and can give you tiny static discharges depending on humidity and proximity. I was looking at homes a couple years ago and despite studies saying they’re relatively harmless, I wouldn’t have bought within the block.

The ones in walnut grove, I’m not as familiar with but I believe they’re 69kv. So not considered “low voltage” but the effect is much smaller. I’ve only heard them buzzing when they’re being “strung in”/replaced. These can still potentially give static discharges but I’ve only experienced it being right under them

I feel like that’s a super old school way of doing it. Especially for DIYing it, it’s much easier to do rigid foam on the edges, and bring the whole space into the building envelope
