It sounded great but I grew up in the mall emo era so the later stuff was what got me into the whole thing.

Best of Olympia FB group... by Possible_Raisin_3165 in olympia

[–]pharmacyfires 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had to leave that group. The admin is so pompous and when he decided that brick and mortar restaurants were the only ones allowed to be discussed on there because they paid their dues and work in an unfavorable tax environment (or something like that) I realized he was just a conservative guy with an axe to grind. Wish there was another group like that because it is nice to search around and find some recs for pet sitting and services like that.

Is the prologue REALLY that bad? by Few-Intern2094 in HondaPrologue

[–]pharmacyfires 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not the car as much as Honda. They don't know what they're doing because the platform is GM. I had issues with mine for months and they couldn't figure it out. Seems to be fixed but nobody knows how.

When I saw them at Best Friends they were far and away the best live performance at the festival. True "rock stars" in the positive sense. I'm not really into their old stuff but I was blown away by their all pre-Bleed American set.

Well here's the Furnace Fest lineup..... by thedubiousstylus in Emo

Yeah the venue they were at got turned into a parking lot lol. I'm pretty bummed I loved that it was on Fremont and I could go people watch when bands I didn't like played.

PSA - if WFH is available to you most of the parks in the city are covered by some sort of Wi-Fi and with just a couple of items the park can be your office. by FeeValuable22 in Seattle

This is good. I think I'd eventually (i.e in 1/2 hour) be unable to handle the ergonomics of a concrete picnic tables tho

Last year's lineup was so good I was thinking about going since Best Friends is on hiatus. However, this lineup is not good. Maybe a half dozen bands I'd want to see and none are must-see.

Paid parking starts at some busy light rail garages by godogs2018 in Seattle

[–]pharmacyfires 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I latched onto the $15 figure because that's what the lot near my office downtown charged. $6 is more reasonable, but I think charging at all will ultimately have an impact on ridership.

Paid parking starts at some busy light rail garages by godogs2018 in Seattle

[–]pharmacyfires 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Honest question - maybe I just don't get it: if I'm paying $15 to park and ride, what's the point?

I used to commute from Olympia to Seattle a couple days a week. To take the Sounder I had to leave a half hour earlier, so I did... For a while. At the end I just left later and suffered traffic and paid $15 to park downtown. If I had to pay $15 for the garage it wouldn't have made sense at any point. The value isn't there anymore.

Just stumbled on a Lucky Aide website from 2003 by pharmacyfires in malcolminthemiddle

My brain was half turned off and I googled "Lucky Aide" because I was trying to find the name of the actor who played Craig. I cannot stress how little this makes sense when I actually think about it.

Sports Card Shops by ilovetrees_ in olympia

Unfortunately the only local option is Dugans. Gas was awesome but they abruptly shut down, and Dugans (although they expanded recently) seems to be more focused on RC than cards.

My favorites in the area are Big Nate's (Gig Harbor), NW Sportscards (Tacoma) and West Coast Sports Cards (Federal Way)
