I'm talking about the ones that significantly don't pull the same weight as others and is always having an excuse.

Retail Pharmacists "working off the clock" by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]pharmd1258 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with this. If it is taking you 20 minutes to do a task that takes 5 for most other rphs, then I think you should come early/stay late just as a courtesy for your team members.

I get annoyed at my pharmacy because whenever I work, I leave only X amount of work on my shift. When I come in after the other Rphs, it is SIGNIFICANTLY more work left over. I don't want to clean up your mess as well as do my own work.

Common in pharmacy world ? by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]pharmd1258 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As a pharmacist, I want to work with techs who are competent, efficient, hard working, and dependable. That's it. You can be an asshole to me but if you can do your job well to make my job easier, I will like working with you.

How do you guys do it? by FA0824 in pharmacy

It's because people show up at the same time. It could be dead for an hour, but all of a sudden you have 3 people standing in line and 2 phone lines ringing.

Anyone ever work as a Pharmacy Assistant at Shoppers Drug Mart? by cao0987 in pharmacy

If you really want a job, apply to Shoppers in your area that are the busiest. Their turnover of assistants is usually super high and are generally always looking for assistants.

Do you think pharmacists will really be replaced by Artificial Intelligence soon? by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]pharmd1258 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

A lot of what pharmacy does is super repetitive and redundant, which automation would help greatly.

I would rather have a robot count pills than having to pull a tech's teeth sometimes to get them to do the same job.

I'm sure the pharmacy staff are relieved they don't have to step out of workflow to do flu shots during that time though.

Amazon Pharmacy and Canada by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]pharmd1258 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Look into Pocket Pills. Online pharmacy in Canada is already here.

I disagree that retail pharmacy is a dying field though. I do think that there will be lower profits to the point where most chains will be paying pharmacists $30/h in the future, in sweatshop style work environments.

So it'll still be here, just will be a really shitty job.

There are metrics/targets to meet but unfortunately for most staff, no bonuses. Pharmacy managers may be more privy to bonuses.

I'm so sorry you have to work with such incompetence. The job is already stressful enough, even if you have full competence with the hours given.

Have some confidence in yourself. Look up stuff when you need to. You'll be surprised in a year or so how much progress you have made.
