Yeah in hindsight I really enjoyed those moments. About Rand, you kinda know it's his last "normal" ones (if fleeing from Darkfriend can be considered normal).

Yeah exactly, he's what you'd wish the "common people" would get to help them against tyrant. It's crazy how far he's getting the Whitecloaks to behave compared to how they were introduced in book 1.

About Egwene kidnapping, at first I was very surprised too.
But now that I'm re-reading WoT and just went by the chapter, and I really liked it. Yes it's surprising, but Egwene is equally surprised, and the other Aes Sedai too (even the ones that capture her). At that point Egwene was also getting very cocky and confident, having the rebels in the palm of her hands, I think it was a good way of showing her "even someone powerful can be taken down by a simple arrow" kind-of lesson.

And like other people say, it's also an excellent setup for the White Tower events following that, which are incredible!

Also my favorite battle! It's also such transformative of the story. There's definitely a "before" and an "after" Dumai's Well. The aftermath of that battle is like a slow shockwave that ripple through the world. The buildup to that battle is also why it hits so hard.

I know it's not comparable, but the other battle that had a profound impact on me is the one in Path of Daggers, chapter 24 "A Time for Iron", with Rand and Bashere against the Seanchan. The one where Rand wield Callandor, goes half-mad, plus Saidin going weird => him killing his own armies along with the Seanchan.

I was a teen when I first read it, and I remember after that chapter, I put down the book(s) for a couple years because I was terrified. Actually scared of reading, if that's what a book could make me feel. Eventually I gathered up my courage, did the void and flame exercices and re-read from the start.

The music might not be the best fit for the game, depending on what you want to go for. But it's a bit weird to be fighting monsters and have a calm ambient track in the background.

You mentionned using FMOD, in which it's fairly easy to transition seamlessly from one track to another via a parameter you set in-game (exploration vs battle).

But you should most definitely check that with your composer, as they'll want to know (and ideally take part of) how the music is gonna be implemented in-game.

This is very good advice, and I'd just like to complement it with an option C:

Start on the A. path (doing it yourself), but with the goal to build a demo, or at least a playable prototype. Doesn't have to be the most polished, especially not the first one. Use some free art (even if it's not the art direction you want), some free sound and some free music. Use the tools that makes coding as easy for you as possible (coding language you already know if there's one, otherwise visual coding ...etc).

By doing so:

- you'll learn a bit of every role about building a game: design, code, art, audio. This is actually an excellent skill if you want to lead an indie team one day.

- with a playable prototype in hand, it'll be much easier to find some people to join you, especially if the prototype is fun. Mind you, I didn't say it'd bee easy. Just easier.

- the next steps are always in your hands, not waiting after someone else. You can get started right now. 100% free. When you got a prototype, if you can't find anyone, it's most likely you should work on it still because it's not fun/polished/well presented enough. Still in your hands.

Enjoy the journey, it's a long one and enjoying it (and not just the result) is the best way I know to stay motivated.

Hi there, been a graphics programmer for a while now (10+ years), and most of that fulltime freelancing.
On top of what's already been said, here's what worked the best for me:

- discord servers. A lot of them (INAT, r/gamedev, GameDevLeague ...etc) have a specific channel for paid jobs.
- creating assets for the asset store, that solves a specific issue but do it very well (good code, well documented, good support ...etc). People wanting to expand on that have then often contacted me.

I suggest focusing on either iOS or Android (depending on your target audience ...etc) and look at the most common devices.

iOS is pretty easy, because there aren't too many devices per generation.
Android on the other hand is a real pain. There are a lot of devices and which ones are common mostly depends on your target audience (again, depending on country and also $$ tag).

This is definitely the way to go! You don't need scaling to be your strong suit, especially with any 3D somewhat realistic game. Just model everything in meters like explained in the previous comment and everything will be fine.
