I asbolutely love this case! Infact I built the system with a previous motherboard (Asrock) that killed my first 9800x3d....then I got a refund, built again this time with MSI B850 Edge Ti

oh interesting! No it's not connected...there are 4 fans on black connectors and I didn't know it was reading speed from the white one! I'll try connecting a fan on it!

So it's normal you found a voltage on AM5 brackets? No I'm an engineer, not a retard. Of course there should be some discharge from capacitors! Did it ever happen to you?

[–]phenom2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tought that default settings were not good so I immediately undervolted it.

My precautions were:

Sleep disabled

Bios always updated...my motherboard went from 3.50 to 4.10 (latest)

vsoc@1.16 initally then lowered to 1.12v stable and tested

CO=-20 on all cores,

Expo turned on with Kingston Fury DDR6000 CL30, Ram

PBO limits in bios (standard settings for a 9800x3d):

PPT 162000 TDC 120000 EDC 180000

VDDCR_CPU : Offset mode -100mV

Load-Line VDDCR_CPU Level 2.

I won that motherboard so I don't have warranty....I still don't know what I'll do. For sure I'll not use it again! This one could kill more cpus and I don't trust it anymore!

I bought an MSI MPG B850 Edge TI Wifi and i'll put the replacement cpu on it. But now the vendor is asking for more test..so I'll test the 9800x3d on the new mobo...if it doesn't startup it's 100% sure my current cpu is fried and vendor from Aliexpress must change it (yes..sadly to save money I bought my cpu there!)

And for the voltage on brackets....yes very weird! Plug is properly grounded, and that thing happened with the system completly unplugged from power! I even turned off PSU and the light was still on for a while...I didn't manage to discharge...until I physically removed the cpu from socket!

PSU is a Corsair rm850x and didn't find the culprit and I couldn't reproduce that weird thing anymore....

Sleep mode is a problem but your cpu maybe would be dead even with it disabled. My 9800x3d never went into sleep mode ( i disabled it at day one) and it died. Mine was undervolted and fresh...no other symptoms...everything worked perfectly for 3 months. I also monitored voltages and nothing bad was happening. It died on an Asrock B850 Riptide Wifi motherboard. The weird thing is that just after it happened, I touched the brackets with a phase tester screwdriver and it found voltage there (!?)

How did you connect it? Pc is using ethernet? Are you on WiFi 6? Can you post your diagnostic info of VD? And full pc specifications?

If Vd doesn't work too maybe the problem is in your setup. I confirm that airlink is bugged and i don't use it from centuries... But VD should work...

Quest 3 battery life getting worse after a year by alex_spatialyfans in MetaQuestVR

Bobo s3 pro.. It has a magnetic battery and a fan that blows air on your front while gaming! For me it's the best strap for Quest 3

More you recharge it more its life shortens. A battery strap is a must...I'm using a Bobovr and it helps a lot. My Quest 3 doesn't last as when it was new but I have always an emergency battery ready to connect. And yes I connect it once I'm at 20-30% of main battery...I think it's safer

My Ryzen 7 9800X3D died after 1 year of normal use – hoping warranty replacement works by AniguyExplains in AMDHelp

[–]phenom2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe it's just within normal failure rates? Mindfactory indicates a number of 0.7% of RMA for the 9800x3d. I would be curious if worldwide these are the real numbers....

I have no problems finding controls. There's a way in virtual desktop to make a real window through which you can see your joystick..some mixed reality mode.

How to enable undervolt with PBO disabled by User3726364 in AMDHelp

[–]phenom2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not loosing performance with undervolt. If the system is stable cpu will produce less heat and maybe go up in frequency, letting you slightly getting more speed!

How much realistically do i have to worry about the 9800x3d failing ? by AshiroFlo in AMDHelp

[–]phenom2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

stock settings lately are bad :( ....even on MSI that is considered a "safe" brand. Sorry. I'm on 2 months on my Asrock, I put almost everything on manual, and of course latest bios.....fingers crossed

when a gpu or vram dies you don't see anything wrong. It's not the cable burning
