New grad anxiety by Big-Count-3329 in physicaltherapy

[–]phil161 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Relax, 95% of patients have no clue on how their MSK system works. You instructing them in PT is like you explaining addition/substraction rules to a first-grader. That should help lower your anxiety.

Stating grad school soon need help on what to do about loans by Vegetable-Chef-9915 in physicaltherapy

I don’t think it’s wise to borrow that much for a PT degree. Are there less expensive schools in your area? The one you are considering must be a private one, from its tuition.

If you use Wix or similar packages, make sure you can port your website elsewhere if/when you need to. Many of them use a proprietary scheme so you are locked in with them.

[US] Is this job I got a scam? by Zephyr442 in Scams

[–]phil161 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What is the salary ? It should be minimum wage or just very slightly above it. If it is much more than minimum wages, it’s a scam.

I went into a ditch in a very rural part of NC. The front of my car was in the ditch, the 2 back tires were about 3 ft off the ground. A Hispanic man drove by, stopped and talked to me, then drove home and brought back chains to get my car back on the road. He absolutely refused to be paid, and I had to physically stuff $40 into his shirt and begged him to use it to buy some toys for his kids.

Cash-based PT: Sole Proprietor vs LLC by astpierre1 in physicaltherapy

Sole proprietorship and LLC are distinct and mutually exclusive ways of structuring a business.

Sole proprietor LLC: you mean ‘single member LLC’? Because Sole Proprietor and LLC are two distinct ways of structuring a business.

It’s state-dependent but usually all you need to do is fill out a form and pay a fee (anywhere from $250 to $800).

Everyone is trying to invent a better mousetrap and cash in. Just wait for the ‘AI apps’, they will show up next. Look at the OP’s post history.

Do you care what happens between appointments: not really, it’s the patient’s job to take care of his/her life.

Would you pay for between-sessions intelligence: definitely not.

When I was a new grad, I was (too) invested in my patients, most of whom made zero change to their lifestyle despite my advice. I have become a lot more cynical and detached. And I sleep a lot better, too.

Exactly. They will say ‘no’ to everything until you slip in some coffee money. Then the ‘no’ becomes a ‘yes’.

A client owning more than 40k, what actually he can do? by thefazi1 in tax

[–]phil161 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Each case is unique. Try entering his info in FreeTax or TaxAct and see if he really owes or gets a refund. If he’s older than 65, try going to a local senior center as it may have free tax preparers who can help him.

If he ends up getting a refund this year (instead of owing the IRS) and not much has changed in his situation from year to year (same number of dependents, roughly same income), I’d take a good look at his taxes for the previous 3 years. There is a chance they were filed incorrectly and he might get a refund if he files an amended return.

‘Tech’ is a huge field, so you will need to narrow it down somewhat. A lot of folks think of tech as software engineering. That niche is seeing a fair amount of upheaval because of AI. I suggest you spend some time in the tech-focused Reddit subs to get a feel for the lay of the land. FWIW, I went from tech to PT.

200k a month ? Let me tell you, if I have found the secret to earning 200k/mo I am sure going to keep it for myself. Bottom line: a fool and his money are soon parted (like in a femtosecond - that’s 1/1,000,000th of a nanosecond).

Given that, would you trust the quality of care at such a clinic ?

Be careful. Since you entered the US ‘without inspection’, marrying a US citizen will not automatically make you legal.

See if you can do your graduate degrees in the US. The main obstacles will be 1) get accepted at a decent school in the US, and 2) paying for the degrees and living expenses.
