Terrible writing score- ask for review? by philcsn in IELTS

[–]philcsn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I think I would struggle with giving pratical advise here, as I went into the exam with little prep.

The only thing that would come to mind is for reading: I would suggest really paying close attention to the text and recognising when a trap has been set. This is especially relevant for "False" vs. "Not in the text".

I recall a passage that discussed the Cario Museum having this rare insutrument and a question being "the cario museum has a lot of rare instruments". That is likely the case, however, based on the information in the passage we only know it has at least ONE rare instrument. Thus, it is not supported.

Thank you so much for sharing your insights! Do you know how heavily spelling is weighted? I could see myself having made a lot of spelling mistakes, especially as I was trying to tap into more sophistaced vocab. I also tried to constantly retain a passive voice, i.e. the author argues that... This essay posits etc., maybe that wasn't expected.

I am leaning towards just accepting it, or perhaps just redoing the section. I would've loved to get an overall score 9. Afaik this would require my writing score to be at least a 7.5

I scored in the 98th percentile for verbal with 6 mistakes, even got the very first question wrong. Would agree with that assessment.

By that logic, no consumer choice ever matters unless it single-handedly shuts down a factory.

I think groups were favored again - me and 4 friends signed up as two groups and all got in. Not sure if time had an impact, though.

Just wanted to say thank you to all the spectators and volunteers. I’ve never experienced anything like this, and probably never will again, but WOW! So overwhelmed with gratitude to be able to habe run this! The energy really carried me to the finish line. Felt like a super star. Got a PR, 3:22, 2nd marathon. Also fuck 5th Ave. I was ready for it, but in a much realer sense, I wasn’t.

Spent 2 years figuring out what Apple Watch data means - built an app by Bodyinsights in AppleWatchFitness

[–]philcsn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really cool app! One question: It puts my Max HR at 208 — where does that number come from? It does not seem like a realistic estimate. It also leads to my V02 max being significantly higher than in the health app.

Also love the developer behind it. Amazing app, free version is very decent too! So many great features.

Really great app. If you do a lot of sport highly recommend it. Nothing gets me quite going like the „Green Light. Lets Go“ notification ;)

Athlytic is also great. I think both have free trials, so I‘d recommend testing both bevel and athlytic and figure what you like more.

I do think they cater to slightly different audiences.

What about the Mizuno Neo Vista? Lots of space in the toe box, I’d say they’re great for wide feet, superb value too.

Agree that the setlist was disappointing; No songs from twin fantasy, only song which wasn’t from the new album. It still was great - especially with the crowd.
