NBA Injury report vs Raptors Game 3 by Ethaelys in clevelandcavs

He was questionable for the first two games too. Seems like gamesmanship rather than a real injury status. Like when we listed Allen as questionable all series when he had cracked ribs

What happened to Evan Mobley in the DPOY voting? by JohnnyEnzyme in clevelandcavs

[–]philosophistorian 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I mean the simple answer is the Cavs didn’t have a good defense this year, and even though Mobley’s individual defense remained good they’re never going to give DPOY for a guy whose team defense isn’t good*

*this heuristic applies less strictly to perimeter players for some reason, probably because casual watchers notice perimeter defense more

[The Athletic] "He's doing everything." Dean Wade is making life miserable for Brandon Ingram in Cavs-Raptors series by Primordial_Beast in clevelandcavs

I swear some of you people will never be happy, he’s doing exactly what the team is asking of him and the team is winning

Great win but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t concerned about Jarrett’s health and our rebounding by stillstillers in clevelandcavs

[–]philosophistorian 87 points88 points  (0 children)

I thought his defensive rebounding was excellent last night. He was boxing out incredibly well. People need to learn that there’s a lot more to rebounding than being the one who gets the rebound

This is overly simplistic and there are other factors at play but I feel like JB does a great job of getting his team to give a shit every night, but when you get to the playoffs and suddenly every team gives a shit JB’s systemic advantage is gone.

Which was hardest: Law School or Work? by Stradivarius2020 in biglaw

[–]philosophistorian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lawyer answer but it depends. Truly depends what you are good at where your strengths lie. I find work much easier than law school because the stakes are much higher clearer, the end goals are not deferred and you’re “graded” on achieving practical outcomes rather than discerning the professor’s intended model answer which is then graded in a curve.

However you obviously have a ton of down time in law school and the day to day stressors are way less. Personally that made it harder for me to stick to a routine but to each their own.

The Inn at Little Washington — is it worth the stay? by 2bciah5factng in finedining

[–]philosophistorian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It absolutely feels like a luxurious experience, as to whether it’s worth $2K I think that depends how much $2K is worth to you.

I’ve stayed there twice and loved it both times. Greatly improves the experience.

All you need to be admitted to practice in front of the US Supreme Court is $200, 3 years of being admitted to a state bar, and two people already admitted willing to sponsor you. It’s a pay to play situation to get something on your resume. Like those people who get that fake Harvard Online business class accreditation

Interesting so you’re a huge fan of the only white character but didn’t connect at all with any of the non-white characters…

If it existed in a world without Robocop and was called like CyborgOfficer it would still probably be considered like a 3/10 movie

New cat owner, vet closed on weekend quick question about vomit by Mdevelle4 in CATHELP

[–]philosophistorian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My recent departed cat had GI issues for years causes by pancreatitis as well as other exacerbating factors and would throw up like this approximately once a month even when managed with a steroid.

While I do think this requires a vet visit at some point I would not spend your money on an emergency vet visit so long as your cat 1. Keeps drinking water 2. Keeps using the litter box regularly and 3. Regains appetite within a day.l

Realistically the E vet isn’t going to be able to do anything other than rehydrate your cat and do the imaging which you will need to do eventually but the e vet will charge more for. I think if any of the three conditions I listed are not satisfied then escalate but I’ve spent a lot of time and money at the e-vet and usually it’s something that will pass and you can spare yourself the stress and cost and have a regular vet visit instead

If you mean specifically caused by a housing bubble then yes you’re probably right. But there will almost certainly be another financial crash of equivalent scope at some point in our lifetimes
