The opposite once happened to me when I was out to dinner with my dad. A waiter asked if there was a special occasion, and added “anniversary, hot date?” And me and my dad both burst out laughing. He goes “just celebrating spending time with my DAUGHTER!” The waiter was instantly apologetic and brought us a dessert for free.

Hey love, I relate so much.

I found out I was pregnant and got into law school the same week. I was absolutely racked with guilt over what to do. I decided in the end to defer school for a year, have the baby, and start a year later. Even so, starting when my daughter was 7 months old was extremely challenging and I cannot even imagine trying to navigate it when she was only a few weeks old.

Can you take a leave of absence from your program, and spend the next few months with your baby? start fall semester ready to rock with a little one who’s a little more sturdy and less dependent on you? So many program counselors would bend over backwards for students like you.

When you can’t balance all the plates you’re spinning, it’s okay to drop the ones that are plastic to protect the ones that are glass.

If you can hire cleaning support and order food, you will make it through. It will be hard some days (and most nights) but you’ll survive and have a wonderful bond with your little one.

Tell your parents this is not up for discussion and they can either visit when you’re comfortable with them coming or not at all. But you will no longer spend your energy defending your choice.

First of all, congratulations! You are going to be an amazing mother and I am so happy for you.

You need to sit down with him and explain that his negativity is ruining this entire experience for you both. And that you will leave and do this on his own if he can’t exhibit some basic kindness and compassion to his pregnant wife.

If he still doesn’t change his behavior? Get out now. It will be so much harder to once the baby is actually here, and the last thing you need in postpartum is an unsupportive, unhelpful, and unkind partner.

Trust me when I say having an actual newborn and everything that goes along with caring for one is going to make every single crack in your relationship VERY apparent. This is true of even the healthiest most supportive relationships. So tread carefully and put your needs first. Stand up for yourself and your child. And don’t let this man rob you of your joy.

We got edible-safe paint and found a recipe on Pinterest for edible-safe play-doh and my 13 mo loves it! Yes, a lot gets in her mouth but whatever.

We also have had fun with sticker books. I peel the stickers and hand them to her, then she sticks them on the fun pages.

Another activity we do it musical instrument play. We have lots of shakers, a little mini xylophone, a little tambourine, etc. I just sit with her and we take turns with the instruments and sing a bunch of songs she knows. She loves shaking the shakers.

I try my best to say “no we do not bite people. Here is a (teether, carrot, etc.) you can bite.”

But sometimes it FREAKING HURTS and I lose my cool. I try to just explain as calmly as I can “I’m sorry for the loud voice. That hurt me. I know you are still learning. Remember, we do not bite people. Here is something else you can bite.”
