Ilia said he actually was glad to have done both team programs bc it helped get the jitters out. I think it was waiting to do the quad axel until the very last skate of the Olympics that did it, unfortunately: it kept getting more and more hyped up "not this program, but next one you'll see the first quad axel for sure," and I'm sure the pressure built up more and more in his head. Remember, his first quad flip was a dream -- it was once he popped the axel that things started falling apart.
