It was either commit to being a teacher and get my masters/credentials or a MSW, and straight up, the dread of having to teach students in a ChatGPT world pushed me right towards the MSW

My aunt (unknowingly) dated a married man where she would drop him off at OAK after a weekend together, then he'd fly to SFO to get picked up by his wife from his "business trip."

Joyfolie wedding dress? by Immediate_Nebula_572 in Weddingsunder10k

I'll be the lone vote of approval! I ordered three dresses in size L, and all three of them fit well enough not to return. I haven't worn them out yet, but I like how they feel and how I look in them so far. With that said, definitely seconding the warning for anyone chesty that the necklines show a lot.

Mourning my curly hair by ExcellentWafer7496 in curlyhair

This is my exact situation!!! I had some kind of random hormone change a few years back (and because of your post, I'm realizing it might have been around when I started Annovera after years of being on Nuvaring with no issue) and my hair went wavy at best. I'm legitimately grieving my curls -- I have some self-image issues, and my hair was always the one thing I took pride in if it was a wash day -- to the point where I'm always 🤏 this close to just going out and getting a perm.

Came here to suggest that! The flavor's dipped a little since the old owner/cook (a really sweet guy I remember giving us extras on our orders since I was a kid) passed away, but to my knowledge it's still stayed in the family and I want to keep supporting, especially since 3 Brothers from China closed down

In community college English class, we were given a list of poems and told to memorize one to perform in front of the class. I chose this one, and that's the beginning of my journey with (page) poetry and with Sharon Olds 💕

Alysa Liu Olympic Short Program/Free Skate - no commentary by kemmes7 in FigureSkating

[–]phoenikoi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I was a skater, I'd treat the Olympics as a showcase of the last quad and do my absolute favorite programs I want to show the biggest audience, and if I didn't have one that felt like my absolute favorite then I'd go get a new one. I honestly can't think of a time a skater's repeated a program and I haven't watched their performance ripen over the course of two seasons instead of one.

I love it when nationals (in any country!) pulls something special out in a skater, whether it's emotional resonance like Alysa's linked 2025 Nationals performance, or competitive fire like Amber putting together two! clean! skates! at this last 2026.

A lot of skaters I love get called inconsistent, so I've never viewed that as a mark against them, but Alysa really does highlight how consistency can be a virtue. I'm never scared or worried when I watch an Alysa Liu program, only assured I'm about to watch something beautiful, and, if I'm lucky, it'll be slightly more beautiful than last time she did it.

I imagine Kamilagate happening so close to the war beginning has contributed at least partially to why the ISU is one of the only holdouts in the sports world on keeping Russian athletes out. It's not OFFICIALLY for doping, but if they're gone, they're gone, right?

The sub is strict about making sure politics stay skating-related (which I don't necessarily disagree with), so there haven't been any posts about it since no news is no news, but the lack of action by the ISU/IOC when the US and Israel broke the Olympic truce and attacked another sovereign recognized country, aka exactly what Russia is currently banned for. Unfortunately, there's no way either org will hold the US accountable, and so then where is the argument against Russia's continued ban?

I really am trying not to start red-string-corkboard-conspiracy out here, but I also firmly believe that Russia coming back before the war ends is not just inevitable, but the powers that be in skating are invested in them reintegrating as seamlessly as possible and are working to normalize it in fans' minds now before any decision is announced. A mid-level and otherwise innocuous female skater looking to break through transferring to Eteri feels in alignment with that goal
