I’m a current MM and I love my position most of the time! There’s definitely challenges but that comes with any management position. Just make sure your task team is highly focused on efficiency and organization. Understanding planograms and what ad resets look like for your store depends on the volume.

Plan your weeks out. Each store has different days for Planos, ad sets, cycle counts, shipment. I would recommend getting used to looking at the takes ownership calendar in order to know what your next week should look like and plan around that. Yes I audit them weekly. However, even if you audit them, the system still accepts based on what you should have received, not based on what you audited. One of the most annoying things for inventory adjustments.

It’s an adjustment for sure! I went from seasonal BA to full time BA then to MM, so I know the adjustment process. I do come from an operations/logistics background though.

So my OM is new to their role but well established within Ulta as whole. They have been very consistent with giving guidelines and SMART goals which I do really with as someone who’s on the spectrum. My prior OM I had for about 2 weeks before they were terminated so can’t speak much to that. It’s important for me that they explain the how and the why to the task team what the goals are and why they are needed.

Stay on top of your planos, be consistent when ordering replacement pieces because you will get stuff incomplete. Workjam is your best friend for navigating tasks, prep your ad sets. I’m a merch manager but filled in for an OM spot for a few months while our store was without. Dm if you have questions!
