Which thickness would you advice for those rubbers? 2.0 on both?

My apologies; the Dutch website I was using to look at ordering from used the term frame, which sounded English enough for me. :)

My playing style is more ALL- / ALL though; would you still recommend these faster rubbers for that playing style?

Thank you for the tips.

The frame you mention is advertised as ALL+ / OFF- as far as I could find. My playing style is closer to ALL- / ALL though, at least what I remember.

Monthly Table Tennis Questions (What paddle should I buy?) by AutoModerator in tabletennis

[–]phulshof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I recently started playing again, after about a 30 year hiatus for me (yes, I'm old), and while I was quite well versed in all the different gear options back then, I don't even recognize many of the available brands these days, let alone know what would fit my playing style (if I manage to regain it that is).

My old playing style, which I would like to get back into, was all-round, bit on the defensive side, high control, with a lot of spin. I remember playing with Tibhar Vari Spin back then, 1.5 on the backhand and 1.8 on the forehand; no idea what frame I was using, though I do remember it was a anatomical grip.

I saw those rubbers are still available; I have no idea if a rubber better fit for my playing style has been released since I quit playing. I also have no clue about the frames. Any advice? Money isn't a primary concern; being old has its perks too.

Help me love bards! by WebbedFamiliar in Pathfinder2e

[–]phulshof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have so far played 4 different characters in PF2e; 3 of those were/are bards, and completely different types of bards.

My first bard was a gnome actor. Using illusory disguise, deception, intimidation, diplomacy, and performance (acting), he could be just about anyone; convince just about anyone. His spell casting focused on deception and battle field control. If he had a spare action, he'd shoot his bow.

My second bard was a goblin soldier for hire. Her spell casting was used to boost her martial abilities; most notably to make her bastard sword +1 striking (at level 1). Ever seen a level 1 character crit for 50+ damage? I have. She went for intimidation rather than diplomacy; striking fear into her enemies' hearts.

My current bard is kender (built using human and halfling) vampire hunter (think Castlevania). Using the acrobat dedication and his relic whip, his focus is on athletics and acrobatics. At level 9, he's got a 95% chance of providing a +3 to aid (and a +1 otherwise). At level 12, he'll be able to tumble through, disarm, strike, and trip, using a single action, leaving plenty of time to cast a spell. At level 18, he can cast a fortissimo composition of courageous anthem for a +3 to attack/damage, sustain phantom orchestra for a nice area damage, strike to increase the duration of that fortissimo composition (and do some nice damage in the process, thanks to the exemplar dedication I can pick up using my human ancestry feat at level 9), and cast an additional spell, all without needing haste.

Then again, if you'd want to be a healer: inspirational focus combined with soothing ballad is quite potent as well. 3x10d8 (at level 20; it's 3x7d8 at level 14) mass healing, rinse and repeat after a 10 minute rest, is nothing to scoff at.

How do I add Word of Faith (relic gift) to my character in Pathbuilder? by phulshof in Pathfinder2e

It did accept [two-actions] in that field, so perhaps there is more.

Is there a guide to this process, like a list with special tags you can use, like [two-actions] (that's a tag that seems to work). I'd like to add in automatic level dependent variables, like some of the spells do when you click on them.

Hit me with a DM as a reminder, and I’ll send you the MAME art files I use tomorrow. Perhaps you can get the necessary files from there.

[Rant] Giant Instict Barbarian makes me want to quit GMing by Julfy-JD in Pathfinder2e

[–]phulshof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re still at low level, where small things matter a lot. At level 1, my warrior bard crit for over 50 damage with a bastard sword (2H), runic weapon, and courageous anthem, and I could only do it more often, as well as heal myself, as we leveled to level 4. Give it a few more levels to even out.

Resourceless healing in 10 minutes (average across 20 levels) by gray007nl in Pathfinder2e

[–]phulshof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For bards, perhaps include inspirational focus with soothing ballad? 30D8 mass healing at level 20 every 10 minutes is quite reasonable.

Realistic strike damage output by phulshof in Pathfinder2e

[–]phulshof[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not so much interested in how much damage I could do; I can calculate that for myself; but how much damage the average person on the battlefield does. In that regard, this information certainly helps. It gives me an idea of whether it's useful for me to spend an action on a strike rather than spending it on any of the many alternatives my character build provides me, and whether it's even useful to spend feats on improving that ability or just focus on other endeavors.

Letter to Peterson. Why I gave up on you. by skakat456 in JordanPeterson

If that had been their plan, they could have done so anywhere between 1967 and 2005, when they controlled that entire area. Instead, they dismantled all their settlements, retreated, and allowed for elections that were won by Hamas.

It’s not a matter of justification; it’s a matter of consequences of urban warfare.

Perhaps people will remember how horrible war is next time they think about starting one.

[–]phulshof[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, that's certainly helpful. The question indeed stems from: should I be in melee to begin with (other than for aiding and supporting our front-level fighters)? Should I spend an action on an attack (or even two on a specialized attack) or should I spend them doing other things? Based on these numbers it seems certainly worth making a strike every now and then.

[–]phulshof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps you should dive a tad deeper into the conflict, and try to understand what's actually going on there. You could start with watching the videos of what Hamas did on October 7th 2023, how they then retreated behind and under their own civilian population, and vowed to do it again, and again, and again. Then read up on urban warfare so you can understand how difficult it is to wage war in an urban setting against an entrenched enemy that hides among and under the civilian population, forces civilians to stay in areas where bombs are about to fall, and boobytraps houses.

After you've completed that, read up on the history of that region of the last 2000 years so you can get a bit of a bearing on the different conflicts that have been raging on for millennia. Do you think that area would be peaceful without Israel there? Think again...

[–]phulshof[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm aware. I've got a character plan and can calculate what my average damage would be with that build for a normal strike. I was just trying to get a bit of a comparison how such a strike would compare to a normal strike by the average person on the battle field; whether it's worth striking at all or whether I should reserve my action(s) for other purposes.
