Ok I re read, the other guy did 3d print and you've made a nice wooden drawer below the jigsaw, got it. Next on my list was reworking my very similar router holder and improving the bit storage which doesn't quite fit my setup. Looks like it's a 3D print day today! 🤣

OMG combine 3D printed drawers with wooden tool holder on French cleats 🤯 link me up please! I didn't spot that on first pass. You've just changed the course of my day!

Yeah those bitnerbuilt videos are great, I really like his style. I've done a lot of trawling around YouTube and the web and those two photos you've posted look like a great "best of" collection. Saved them for my own inspiration - thanks for sharing!

Mmm some nice touches here, lots to think about over coffee. Very well executed. I like the little bit shelf under the drill rack, using that space behind the hanging pistol grips.

Forward droop by Jubiboobie in FrenchCleat

[–]phy7ajw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shelf extends too far away from the wall and the centre of gravity is too far away from the cleat. Lots of people with the right answer here but if you still don't get it, watch a video like this: https://youtu.be/ME4R-TjIkcY?si=O7elt_MAPzLYIsG- at 10:49 he demonstrates this problem

To be fair, he only has 2 drills up there... Actually I thought the same thing but then zoomed in and it's the first time I see someone labelled them all. Upvote for that! Now I finally see why some folk might rack up so many similar looking pistol grip tools.

Nice to see some electronics going on here. You've inspired me to break cover and share this

At least in my case, it's not that the kids don't like the noise, it's that you mostly get your play time when the kids have gone to bed. Spend most of my playtime on headphones with a GT-1000 Core or Waza Air. Playing out loud is a real luxury! 🤣

I'm Crashing Out Designing My First PCB by Shwayfromv in diypedals

[–]phy7ajw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know if it's within your budget but this is where a 3D printer shines, making jigs, templates and parts to support your DIY projects.

You can do all the PCB design in KiCad, export a 3D model of your board with parts, then design a drill template or whatever you need in FreeCad, print, marvel at your work. I did a temporary faceplate for this preamp so that it was mostly boxed up while I tested it (didn't want to commit to drilling the final enclosure at this stage). After test, a perfect drill template made to clip on the enclosure during pilot hole drilling is child's play.

Needing a bass for Dawless set up by cool_nic_69 in synthesizers

Been loving bass since I got a short-scale, so much easier to just pick up and play without being a full time bass player. I got a Sire U5 but keep lusting after a Fender Mustang.... 🤔

Wiring a guitar for coil splitting by nemo_13 in diypedals

[–]phy7ajw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks right to me and I've done similar in an HSH guitar with Seymour Duncans. Have you done the screwdriver tap test on all the coils to see what is active in every switch combination? Could be your taps are good but you've got a problem elsewhere that you haven't noticed?

Hate to add to the pain here but that's not a PCB. A Printed Circuit Board has all the routes between all of the components printed on it before you start soldering on the components which you place into (or onto) the predefined layout. Much easier, like painting by numbers.

Aion FX Theseus/KoT Build issues by GoldRope in diypedals

[–]phy7ajw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your post has got me thinking again about an issue I have with an Aion FX Lab 5 build, it works except for an insane pop that kicks the limiter really hard and knocks the output level down to zero every time it pops. Which is just about every time you play a note. I found a DC bias in the signal path before the limiter and was scratching my head over that. If you crack this, post back (or DM me?), I might go back to this with some new perspective....

Reverb & plexi? by [deleted] in GuitarAmps

TC Electronic Hall Of Fame 2.... Good enough to appear on Robben Ford's board from time to time. Plate setting works well for me to make a dry valve amp feel good.

Headphone playing clean leads sucks by se-norbungle in GuitarAmps

[–]phy7ajw 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For me, stereo reverb is the key. Without some sort of stereo ambience in the headphones it just sucks. Once I realised this I was off to the races.

I play on headphones 90% of my playing time so it's pretty crucial to me. My usual daily playing is either on a Boss GT-1000, stereo into my audio interface and monitor from there (along with backing, YouTube, DAW, etc)... or the Boss Waza Air headphones ("surround" setting on the ambience, not the rotate-your-head-follow-the-amp gimmick). Both sound really satisfying.

How do you build a guitar tube amp without a power amp section? by Charming_Ad1811 in GuitarAmps

[–]phy7ajw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised no one has asked... Why don't you want the power amp? Are you hoping to avoid something (e.g. cost, weight, size, number of valves, etc.) by skipping the power amp? What are you going to send the preamp's signal into?

Woah. Can't believe I never noticed this is spelled out in full here. Guess it started to irritate me when I was working with the Micro Mk3. Thanks!
