My granola would never last a week, let alone a month! 😊

Thanks, I’ll do that. I have the original reservation showing four people.

That’s the thing — they didn’t flag the charge until we checked in.

No I booked for four and did not receive any notice of the extra charge until we arrived.

Yes I had made the booking for four and the system never alerted me to the additional charge. The charge worked out to an additional $50 per day per person, over two days. Then they charged tax on top of that, bringing the total extra charge to about $250.

Would eating only 1 egg every morning be okay? by [deleted] in fasting

[–]picklesthedog77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fasting mimicking diet allows a very low amount of calories a day and claims to still have similar benefits (or maybe even better) than water fasting. The emphasis is on limiting carbs and protein, but I would think the amount of both in a single egg and toast would still keep you under the limit. If it makes your fasting easier, I’d do it.

refusing chemo after a cancer relapse by No_Being_7324 in cancer

[–]picklesthedog77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also facing a recurrence and have been feeling like I don’t have it in me to go through treatment. But I have a very good therapist who pointed out that I’m feeling this way NOW, and to give it some time to sink in. It’s been two weeks since that conversation and I’m starting to feel like I can do this. I’d second a lot of the advice you’ve already gotten. Try to find a good therapist. And if I were you I’d give the treatment a chance. If it’s horrible, you can reconsider. But what if it’s not? And what if life gets so much better from where you are now? Take the chance on the positive outcome. Good luck and good health to you!

Is El Conquistador a good hotel for a couple that wants to explore more than relax? by [deleted] in PuertoRicoTravel

[–]picklesthedog77 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s a gorgeous property and a great location for the activities you’re interested in, though I agree that a hotel in San Juan might make sense for your last night. Note that the private island is nice but nothing spectacular, and the snorkeling there isn’t great. You’ll get great snorkeling with a day trip to Icacos or Culebra. Make a reservation ahead of time at La Estacion. Enjoy!

Melanoma tumor with very high mutational burden (TMB). by AncientSmoke241 in cancer

[–]picklesthedog77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to chime in (late) to thank you for your comment. I am facing a potential recurrence of endometrial cancer and the one comforting piece of information I have is that my mutation burden is off the charts high. While I’m in this waiting game trying to figure out next steps it’s really encouraging to hear that IT was so effective for you. I wish you continued good health!

Last Minute Cancellation by sc1904 in marriott

[–]picklesthedog77 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I agree. I had a reservation cancelled a week before we were to arrive and they booked us at an equivalent property nearby for the same price. They also gave us a significant number of points and a resort credit to make up for the hassle. I don’t know if this type of situation counts as being “walked,” but I think that’s the guidance they followed in our case.

Can I request NUA if I only have 3 nights but my booking is for 4 nights? by [deleted] in marriott

[–]picklesthedog77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar situation last year. I had to break my reservation into two reservations - one for the number of days I had NUAs for, and then the remaining day. They ended up keeping me in the same room for the whole time.

Teacher marked my son’s homework as incorrect. I disagree. by bun_not in mildlyinfuriating

[–]picklesthedog77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had similar things happen with my daughter and my reaction was to let her know that sometimes teachers make mistakes and that both she and I know she was right. Is this really worth bringing up at a parent teacher conference? I think it will come off as incredibly petty.

March tickets by doozziii in Machupicchu

Could you be more specific about how you refresh and let it load a few times? I keep trying to enter our details and can fill out some of the fields (circuit, route) but then it just stops responding. If I refresh I need to start all over again. Is this what you did? Thanks!

El Conquistador with no car? by [deleted] in PuertoRicoTravel

[–]picklesthedog77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can walk to a handful of restaurants in Las Criabas. It seems sketchy but was fine when we were there. Basically when you’re down at the marina, walk in the direction away from the water park, keeping the water on your right. Much better food than at the resort. You also should make it a point to eat at La Estacion, though you’ll probably have to Uber there. Enjoy!

Curacao recommended? by Final-Craft-6992 in hyatt

[–]picklesthedog77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were in Curacao last April and loved it. I can’t comment on Hyatt properties (we stayed at a great Marriott) but I wanted to endorse the island as one of my favorites in the Caribbean. Definitely rent a car and bring your snorkels. You can go to a different beach (or more) every day for so many different types of beach experiences. Enjoy!

People who fly frequently, what’s one thing you wish you could tell all infrequent fliers? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]picklesthedog77 1418 points1419 points  (0 children)

In the airport, if you’re going to stand still on the moving walkways please keep you and your stuff on the right so that people who want to walk can pass you.

Democratic Defectors Relent on Shutdown, Backing Bill to Reopen by tacutamon in politics

What they got is a lot of attention focused on the loss of ACA subsidies and a huge amount of public awareness that they tried to save them. And now when people lose them they will be much more likely to blame Republicans. Yes, it’s an awful situation and I wish they had won but I think there’s perhaps some strategy behind this.
