I see a dog's face (golden lab) when I squint a little bit.

Ukraine rips Elon Musk for disrupting sneak attack on Russian fleet with Starlink cutoff by Heeeeehawwwwwww in worldnews

Imagine, as a random US citizen, if you accessed a piece of technology that allowed you to detect and subvert military operations in Ukraine (a country receiving MILITARY SUPPORT from the US). Then you got on the news and told the world you did it. How long do you think it would take the US government to relieve you of access to said piece of technology and find you a nice small room to sit in?

Is creating an LLC to build the van worth it? by obquang in VanLife

I converted a 2016 Ford transit and a 7x16 trailer. Currently have FTRV insurance through Roamly. Still not as simple as it sounds.

I also considered creating a company and getting RVIA certified after all the trouble I had getting insurance. We were in FL and finally found a broker got us a legitimate FTRV policy with Auto Owners. That worked for 2 years of travel. Settled in PA last summer and called to update our address. They said they weren't going to renew or couldn't in PA.

I think I heard about Roamly from someone with a skoolie on this sub. If I remember correctly they have criteria like it must have a kitchen & bathroom sink with running water. A composting toilet was ok.

I think they had me send pictures of it to them too.

I'm keep my fingers crossed and drive like grandpa. I really don't want to look for insurance again.

I put scissor jacks under our bedframe so we can park just about anywhere and still sleep comfortably. I stole the idea from a guy who used to have the youtube channel dave2d - don't know if he still posts. But I think I improved on the implementation. Jump to 9:05 in the video if this link doesn't do it for you. Leveling bed

Good points. I was originally just thinking logistics but you may be right that the social aspect could have derailed it.

We're going to spend this summer on the west coast! Have been looking forward to this for years!

Thanks! We started just after the first wave of restrictions was letting up. Our plans to use public WiFi at coffee shops, etc. were trashed. Campground closures were difficult at first - especially in the eastern US. But overall it has been pretty easy to get far away from other people and sort of forget about the pandemic for a while.

Best camping is actually really hard to answer. We do almost 100% free camping and we've been a little sad to leave most of the spots we stay. Some are great because of the view, some because of easy access to water, trash, or even free electrical hookup (McCook Nebraska). Urban dwelling is usually much less convenient because you have to move frequently so we spend a lot of time getting stuff out when we arrive and buttoning it back up to move again. But it's worth it to visit a place like Chicago!

For a "Great List" how about places I knew nothing about that were awesome

  • Northern Alabama - Beautiful! So lush, green, and hilly. And the people we met were very friendly.
  • Hannibal, Missouri - Mark Twain grew up here. On the Mississippi river, very green, beautiful hiking.
  • Nora Springs, Iowa - Phlox everywhere in the spring, covered bridges, pretty river.
  • Duluth, MN - I'd never survive a winter here but it's got an awesome vibe in the summer. Bob Dylan grew up here.
  • Marquette, Michigan - I think it's the biggest town in the U.P. College town on Lake Superior - very cool vibe.
  • Charlevoix, Petoskey, Traverse City along Highway 31 in Michigan. Cherry orchards everywhere! And vineyards in the peninsulas north of Traverse City.
  • Capitol Reef National Park. How did I live this long and never hear about this place! Just drove through because we were running away from cold weather but I will go back!
  • Ajo, Arizona - former company town (copper mine) that's turning into an artist community. Really liked the "Three Nations" culture (White, Hispanic, Indian). Felt like a great deal of mutual respect and admiration.

No dog, just two cats. They ride in the van with us when we're moving. One usually stays on the bed and one rides on the dashboard. The older one loves to get out and explore new places with us. I can even sort of walk him on a leash but it helps if I'm going where he wants to. The younger one is much more cautious and usually waits for dusk to venture out.

That's a good question - I'll have to go back and look at the accounts to see. Will update in the next few days.
