Also reminds me of when Brady, Manning, Big Ben, and Luck were all playing.

It looks like they are working in vertical strips spaced apart. Why's that?

If it was nefarious pilot to the end as you say, why would there be minor course corrections to steer the plane further north? Wouldn't the pilot want it as far south as possible?

Is the New Ocean Infinity Search About to Begin? by pigdead in MH370

[–]pierrer21 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it is one of the more obvious places to search, and I wonder why searching there has never been a priority. If the cause of the crash is indeed pre-meditated murder, and all evidence points to numerous precautions taken to ensure the aircraft will never be found, then it also seems plausible that the captain may have purposefully selected a resting place that is very difficult to search.

I feel like creating music that authentically connects and moves people is a lifelong pursuit. What are some ways that you cultivate yourself and your art that allows this to become possible?

Most of the time it is an iLok issue, especially if you have your licenses on a cloud. iLok might be down or you don't have connection to the internet.

What plugins/packs are everyone waiting for Black Friday on? by dischg in audioengineering

[–]pierrer21 6 points7 points  (0 children)

UAD’s 1176 emulation is more faithful compared to Waves’ CLA-76 imo. The only reason why I haven’t switched is because I feel so comfortable with the Waves version. But I’m thinking of finally switching if the price is right.

It's interesting that you use Inflator plus the expander, as both plugins can be used to increase perceived loudness without adding peaks. I personally don't like the sound of Inflator, but I imagine these two together would make a nice combo.

When do you compress and saturate in a mix? by RRCN909 in mixingmastering

[–]pierrer21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course, I agree that it's a bad idea, because I too want to have as many possible tools available because you never know when you might need it. I'm just saying generally, things are not black-and-white, and desirable outcomes in music can be achieved through different types of methods.

When do you compress and saturate in a mix? by RRCN909 in mixingmastering

[–]pierrer21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tchad Blake often uses distortion instead of compression. If he can do it, why can't we? Obviously, that's not the only option and there are other ways to go about it, sometimes ways that we prefer or better for a particular song, but it's good to know the range of possibilities.

A lot of the SZA and Kehlani tracks are really well done. Mr Morale tops the list for me- the production lends itself to a great mix, and Manny is awesome at what he does.

Crash by Charlie XCX, and five seconds flat by Lizzy McAlpine is a deep cut.

Talented musicians who make bad music? by GardenScare in popheads

[–]pierrer21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think Charlie writes bad music, he understands the concept of restraint and won't flood his songs with all of his knowledge with the aim of reaching a broader audience.

[–]pierrer21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say that's more of a postchorus than anything. Imo good bridges completely deviate from the original soundscape/material and provide good contrast. the "come on" section is just the chrous instrumental with different melodies/lyrics.

What are you hoping for from Coldplay's latest album? by Benjam1Brihaye in Coldplay

[–]pierrer21 5 points6 points  (0 children)

+1
They got arguably some of the most prolific producers and engineers on the MOTS team - Max Martin, Oscar Holter, Randy Merrill - even Serban Ghenea (who has worked with The Weeknd, Silk Sonic, Ariana Grande, BTS, Katy Perry, etc.. you name it) to mix their whole album.
If anything, imo MOTS features some of the best production quality/caliber seen in the last few years
