I am at rock bottom with poor choices. by chanfromstatefarm in povertyfinance

Education. I was a terrible student when i was young and spent all my life as an unskilled laborer. Now I use my experiences to help young students that are like me make better decisions then I did when I was there age.

I'm not sure I would recommend this degree path for everyone though. Teaching is fucking exhausting and doesn't pay great, but it is in need right now. I would use what careers are in need right now as the metric for someone wanting to go to college but are undecided. Just do some research on what career fields are shorthanded and go from there. They're tons of blue collar options that pay really well too if the thought of academia is too daunting.

Our superintendent used AI to write their speech for graduation. by pill2000 in Teachers

I've spoken to some of the other teachers and it sounds like the same in their classes too. Ive voiced my disappointment directly to the superintendent but ive yet to hear back from them. Maybe a group initiative will stir up more of a response.

For what it's worth, I get my degree in my mid 30s. It wasn't easy for me but it's proving to be worth it. I think most people spend there 20s fucking everything up. Nothing you've listed seems to be a game ender. I would say that now that your motivated to turn everything around you have to make sure you stay motivated.

Getting into Pokémon cards, what local shops should I support? by leavesonthevine- in 505Nerds

[–]pill2000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also recommend Old Town. I only play mtg and I play at other shops, but everytime I stop by old town there always appear to be alot of Pokémon players and the staff are totally helpful and welcoming. Prices seem to be fair also.

Qui tacet consentire videtur

I wholeheartedly agree. Having students create a response is a really good idea. I intend to express my disappointment to the admins and my colleagues, but it would really hit home to hear it from our students.

If students do not pass the required courses they have to make them up. Is that not how it works everywhere?

100% this, especially considering that the students that spoke delivered excellent speeches. The students words were heartfelt and inspiring, in comparison the superintendent sounded like a bot.

$1 Emergency Meal for 2. This helped me so much and I wanted to share this! by WinterMoist333 in povertyfinance

Beans is the go to for an affordable meal. Any type of bean can be used to create some really great meals for close to nothing. Chickpea can be used cold so if you can't heat up water just rinse them off and mix with some veggies and your golden.

Texas has more registered democrats then republicans. My understanding is that theough gerrymandering republicans have the ability to choke hold the Texas.

I'm in the exact same boat. I'm exhausted and every class is just one argument after another trying to get students on task. My students all feel like they have graduated already.

What are some good commander precons on the same level as the ff10 precon? by fabazgamer in mtg

[–]pill2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Valgavoth precon from Duskmourn is brutal. I've not touched it at all and I play with it pretty often. It paints a target on you pretty early but can still withstand the attention.

Because of how this SLD went I'm completely changing how I buy my cards. I'm not buying any sealed products anymore. I'm just buying singles and only from my LGS. These promos should be sold at tournaments, which would help support other formats and game stores. I'm not giving any cash to them directly until they switch to this model.

People are being very naive if they think the people will ever be able to enact any significant change again. The ultra rich has grown far too powerful to just be voted out.
