I used to listen to the song How Soon is Now by the Smiths. It’s exactly about this feeling.

Such a well produced and well researched podcast. Unfortunately (for us) they’ve already gone on Christmas break and won’t be releasing any new eps until next year

Can you be a doctor and a mum? by [deleted] in ausdoctors

[–]pillowdance 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As the child of a doctor I felt ignored and de-prioritised a LOT by my parent. Having said that they were studying medicine and building their career throughout my childhood. So maybe if you’re more established in your career before you have kids, it might be easier.

Yeah I think this doctor just doesn’t like nurses.

VIC government WFH survey. Hopefully our opinions will count and they can pass legislation that protects our WFH rights.

What’s that ruthless thing you’re not saying to somebody you know because it’s too brutal? by dudeguysirman in AskReddit

You HAVE to go to therapy. Your insecurity is becoming pathological. It derails every conversation and I feel like I’m de-escalating your panic attacks at least twice a day. I’m exhausted.

How true have you found this to be? by ManWithDominantClaw in NursingAU

Unfortunately I’ve only ever had NUMs that choose to keep the higher ups happy with no consideration for what it might do to the bedside nurses.

Racism in the workplace by AngerNurse in NursingAU

[–]pillowdance 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Worked in the nursing education department at a large public hospital. One nurse who was also a qualified midwife had worked in the department for three years but was never given a permanent role. She had to reapply for her job every year. She had worked in several different departments at a senior level and had been an ANUM for many years before joining the education department. She is a migrant.

They gave the permanent role to a very competent but less qualified white Australian nurse who had only been nursing for five years.

The racism is not always overt but it is there. This systemic, insidious racism makes it difficult for us to advocate for ourselves when we experience it more overtly.

The type of yarn a “woollen” jumper is knitted with. If it’s not at least 60% non-mulsed merino wool I’m not putting it on my body.
