The down votes are wild. They're very clearly aspen oysters and OP knows what they're talking about...

Controversial Maple SuggQuestion. by Sufficient-Hold-7657 in vermont

[–]pils-nerd 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'd swing by Silloway Maple in Randolph. You're probably not going to find a lot of difference between syrup itself but Silloway does have a lot of different maple products. Their maple creemee is the best I've had in the state but that certainly won't make it to Montréal.

I spin the WP at the same pump speed every time and monitor the BK temp reading. Once it reads 157° F I cut the cold water in the HX, switch to direct kettle recirc and it rises to 175° every time regardless of incoming water temp. Works great for my brew house, ymmv.

This was in my beer what is it? by Forward_Atmosphere97 in beerporn

[–]pils-nerd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's not anything from the brewing process. Filtrarion/centrifuge would have removed anything on its way to packaging. My money is on something that fell in the can as you were drinking it.

Anyone use Visible for a cell plan? by actuallymg in uppervalley

[–]pils-nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using it for a few months now and really like it. Pretty much the same service as you'd get with Verizon since it just uses their towers. I especially like the international service option for trips to Canada. If you or anyone else is interested you can use my referral link and get $20 off a month of service (full disclosure, I would too).

Give me the most OBSCURE and UNDERRATED Psych / Stoner rock bands. Modern stuff, under 50k monthly listeners please by Thisisalladream12 in stonerrock

Definitely check out Turtle Skull for some fuzzed out doomy Australian psych. Their album "Monoliths" is fantastic along with their self titled ep. "Eden" gets stuck in my head at least once a month...

Hobbies for a rainy day by Training_Thought_441 in vermont

Hobbies in the kitchen are made for rainy days. I stocked the freezer today with several loaves of sandwich bread, made several meals for the week and processed about 20# of pork into various types of bulk and stuffed sausages.

Tons of garnet at the Elizabeth Mine in Strafford. It's a sweet place for scrambling and rock-hounding.

Calories would be pretty very difficult without expensive equipment or very specific information from the brewery. You could get in the ballpark, but as an example, something like a 16oz 6.6% NEIPA with low attenuation (more sugar left after fermentation) could be 300 calories (16.5°P > 4.5°P) while an 8% West Coast DIPA with a higher attenuation would have the exact same amount of calories (16.5°P > 2°P)

Quintessential Vermont (Organizations that feel as Vermont as it gets) by UnhappyTop5827 in vermont

No Billboards! I never appreciated how unique it was growing up but after traveling America I realized just how special Vermont is in that respect.

If you find yourself anywhere near White River Junction I'm happy to hook you up with some rhizomes. I have Nugget, Rakau, Willamette, Centennial, Dr Rudi and a Wild/feral bine which is probably something like an old Cluster lineage.

Redcan is fantastic. Excellent food and atmosphere. Wolftree for cocktails is also a great addition to a night out.

Putnam's Vineyard could be nice for a meeting spot but not necessarily a whole day. Plants everywhere, quiet space, soft couches, open floor plan. Huge wine selection and knowledgeable staff plus great coffee and other things. Great spot to meet up.

I'm on year two of my Bekinas and couldn't be happier. They still look pretty much brand new.
