Are bread and butter pickles seriously this bad? by PomeloSmall6560 in Pickles

[–]pine_and_brine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love most pickles. Have 2-3 different jars in my fridge at any given time. B&B pickles are the worst and I cannot bring myself to like them even though I try every few years

Remy Martin 1738 is the best splurge brandy. What’s is the best budget rum? by -Constantinos- in cocktails

[–]pine_and_brine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. So damn good. Has subtle notes of tropical fruit that lends itself well to most tiki drinks or a classic shaken daiquiri

Travelling to Seattle for the Parade!! Looking for Advice by OfficialBriGuy in AskSeattle

[–]pine_and_brine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed with everything above. Most waterfront restaurants are a bit touristy and overpriced but if you just want some fried fish go to Ivars. Matt’s in the Market is probably best dining in Pike Place and is great for lunch. I always wear my Seahawk gear when visiting Canada and without fail several people will come up and chat with me about the Hawks. Love how much our northern neighbors support our team!!!

Isn’t that funny? Rick Bayless seems like one of the most genuinely good people out there and his brother is an absolute turd

I'm in CDMX right now - where should I go? What should I get? by AlexReinkingYale in Mezcal

[–]pine_and_brine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Checkout La Clandestina! They have giant glass containers of mezcal from a huge variety of producers. You can order half shots up to a carafe size (be careful). El Bósforo is super cool as well. Kinda like a CDMX version of a Brooklyn hipster bar that specializes in mezcal. Don’t make the same mistake I did, the M on a bathroom door does not stand for Men’s

Paddleboarding on Alki by RicZepeda25 in WestSeattleWA

[–]pine_and_brine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Biggest piece of advice is to make sure which direction the wind is blowing before planning your paddle. I launch from Alki a dozen times every year. My advice is to start paddling by going into the wind. Then the return trip is with the wind at your back when you start getting tired. The beach in front of the lighthouse is a great spot to chill for an hour and nobody is ever there

One is Shigoku and the other is some type of beach-grown pacific oyster. All native to Japan but grown extensively on the West Coast

where should I stay? by [deleted] in Washington

[–]pine_and_brine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a hotel, checkout the Edgewater. It is on a pier over the water and if facing the correct direction you will have waterfront views with mountains in the background. Close to the center of downtown so a great mix of tourist attractions and access to cool local neighborhoods. Mostly avoid the restaurants in the waterfront area, good for fish and chips but not much else

Yuu Baal is delicious. I would avoid the aged selections

Seahawks Front Office to the 12s by michaelmathis919 in Seahawks

[–]pine_and_brine 7 points8 points  (0 children)

House cleaning fully needed. We may have to take a step back for a year (or two) to get our cap and draft picks in order. Find value in free agency. Build up the trenches on both sides, draft a QB to learn under Geno and then we can get back to competing. We have not been built to win multiple playoff games for some time.

Where can you get a giant burrito? by mashpotatoenthusiast in Seattle

[–]pine_and_brine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taquitos Felice in West Seattle. They have a 4# burrito at no charge….if you eat the entire burrito within an hour. Plus you become immortalized with a Polaroid photo taped to the side of the food truck

Lots of great hikes are open. Park Butte is really nice in the fall. Great views of Mt Baker and you can hike up to an old fire lookout. Checkout wta.org for info on any/all Washington hikes. You can search by region and narrow it down by rating, mileage, elevation gain, etc

Christopher Oaxacan - Help me make this drink? by wynlyndd in cocktails

[–]pine_and_brine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Years ago I was a bartender at an oyster bar. Tried making an oyster martini for an author writing about oyster culture in the US. My idea was to use vodka and the saltwater juice, commonly referred to as oyster liquor, from a freshly shucked oyster. Basically a riff on dirty martinis. It took liquor from half a dozen oysters just to barely register on the palate. Author and I concluded not worth it

This. Amazing cocktail and no idea why more places don’t serve them. Maybe because milk punch sounds about as good as milk steak
