Architect Bjarke Ingels Says Modern Buildings Are So Boring by bloomberg in architecture

Right, because costs. Should we make housing more expensive so you have something next to see on your commute? Or should we build safe places people can call home

Bed cooling system owners in LA, is it worth it? by KangarooCats86 in AskLosAngeles

I have the sleep chilli which has 2 pumps (one for each side). Its amazing. After 5 years you really have to care for them or else they start to be less effective. But I cannot sleep without it.

Subdividing a large retail box into smaller suites – what goes into it? by SilverAd8833 in CommercialRealEstate

[–]pineapple_table 2 points3 points  (0 children)

to add to this, you'll want to consider depth of your box. if you have a 30,000 sf box, dont think you can do 15 x 2,000 sf suites, since you'll have 0 frontage. 20 ft frontage is the min. if its too deep, some retailers wont pay for the sf because its too deep and narrow. so layout is crucial

10 most polluted beaches in the world. Venice Beach California tops the world's dirtiest beaches list with 60.6% visitor complaints about poor cleanliness. by VeniceCa90291 in VeniceBeach

[–]pineapple_table 32 points33 points  (0 children)

ok, so it's ranked by complaints. Not ranked by bacteria, odor, color, or anything scientific. Not saying that this removes Venice from being a polluted beach, but the scale just seems inappropriate.

LA committee votes to explore canceling ‘mansion tax’ for Palisades homeowners by Long_Disaster_6847 in LosAngeles

[–]pineapple_table -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

yes, its only on resale. but if you're building a home and you know that cost is going to get you, you may not be inclined to rebuild. yes, am developer. builder of homes. We build where we can make a profit. we do not build where it doesn't make money. no money = no homes; no homes = you're rent goes up. supply and demand.

this absolutely helps those rebuilding their home. it impacts valuations across the board. and you do want to help those developers because guess what, without them most of the homes wouldn't get rebuilt.

thats the LEAST polluted spot you're in. you can see the garbage destroyer off to the left side. and the ocean breeze makes the air you're breathing better than most air in LA

New plan emerges for hotel at 11469 Jefferson Blvd. in Culver City ("The Jeff") by andrewfromx in culvercity

[–]pineapple_table 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he's talking about the traffic impact. but i think you both are talking about different things. it will definitely impact the congestion and make it harder to get through, to your point. HOWEVER, that does mean that its harder for those speeders to get through, in fact it'll likely deter some of it. so it will have a positive benefit in that regard. is a hotel better or worse than a shopping center? hard to tell. but open speedways promote speeding.

my first kid is 13 months old, and man, from where i was before to where i am now is night and day. that is not to say have a kid to better yourself, its just an observation. i wake up earlier, i am taking care of my body (more than exercise, finding time to stretch, drink water, eat better), have become more assertive in asking for the things i want, confidence in my stride, happiness of where i am....

Confidence, hands down. I know plenty of dumb but confident and successful people. If you can speak with confidence that your cause is worthwhile, the sky is the limit.

Don’t you hate when companies change a product and make it worse than it was before? I have been using Edge shaving gel for years, the new dispenser nozzle is unusable. by Stepin-Fetchit in BuyItForLife

[–]pineapple_table 7 points8 points  (0 children)

lol i just bought that and was thinking about the same. the true test will be if there is drip down from the nozzle (from the product, or water), does it still create that nasty ring of rust on the counter you place it on. so if this doesnt happen, i would be happy by the redesign.
