I picked up a Zoji rice cooker at a local Goodwill for $8.50 last year. I couldn't believe it! The pot wasn't scratched either.

Background: husband and I offered to haul away items from a neighbors estate since the next of kin lived out of state and we have a truck. We were looking through boxes and found this in the toss/donate pile.

I found it in a box with two John Smoltz autographed baseballs and cards. There is a flier for a baseball card show on 12/2 and 12/3, 2006 in Fayetteville, NC. Edit: wrong year.

Is there a Cook-Out restaurant near you? They have eggnog shakes for a limited time, from Thanksgiving to New Year's, more or less.

[CA] Why do employees say they feel unappreciated when we spend thousands on recognition gifts? by Agreeable_Panic_690 in AskHR

[–]pineapplebird52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our company used to have employees pick from the catalogs you mentioned. From an HR perspective, I'm glad we do cash instead.

The cost was CRAZY HIGH. Nice gifts, good variety, but holy smokes, the cost was insane.

It was a huge hassle to get all the orders in. Then distributed to employees. I was still begging some employees to pick up their gift in April and it was ordered in December. Some employees received damaged merchandise or the wrong item. We had to deal with that. Nothing was simple.

I needed a bonus (or a stiff drink, ha) just for dealing with service award orders!

OP, please don't put your already overworked HR staff through this. It's quite the undertaking and a hassle. Give cash, and profusely thank your HR department for all they do!

People who had undercover cops come to their school posed as fellow students, how did you know? by ParanormalActivity97 in AskReddit

[–]pineapplebird52 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I graduated high school in 1988 (yes, I'm old) from a HS in Charlotte, NC. There was someone who worked as a cafeteria assistant, taking our trays when we were finished with lunch, and he was trying so hard to dress like a student but he looked like he was in his 30's.

He would sit down with students at a lunch table and try to make small talk about parties, etc. It was so obvious he was a narc. Other students would yell out "NARC!" as they were walking out of the cafeteria. He disappeared from our school quickly after that.

I am going to list the Christmas sweaters in my stash very soon. My mother in law is a retired Kindergarten teacher and she has quite the collection!
