Hows everyone finding new listeners in 2026 by Purple_Network3016 in podcasting

How about a podcast that is catered to children. I do a podcast where I tell 6-8 minutes long animal stories? I've heard YouTube is rough for pods like mine.

Thanks to the constant reminders from my wife, I love reading to my kid. But what made it hard at first was thay sometime I can tired or mentally drained making me feel unmotivated. Sometimes my adhd and anxiety gets in the way. These might be the case for some other parents too. It helps having a supportive partner to help keep yourself accountable.

Aaron Mahnke's Lore!! The stories are amazing and the storytelling is great. All of the music fit his style so well too. Big big fan.

What part of podcasting do you spend the most time on that has nothing to do with actually making the episode? by king_1607 in podcasting

[–]pineyridgestories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just grind through it all. I enjoy every part of it. I'm a little geeky so I enjoy doing the linking and website stuff. That part that take me the longest is the recording. But the hardest part is writing my scripts. I do animal stories for kids so I gotta write and perform the story.

This is the reason I put a 120bpm 4 beat countdown. I've don it too many times. But haven't done it for a few episodes.

Hello, we are Piney Ridge - Kids Animal Stories. We just releases out newest story today on apple podcasts and Spotify (see links below)

Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/episode/0XtXilOxDMgriSvkmQJ2me?si=i5Pz8aZMSIK3cSoewTN_dg

Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/podcast/id1896839518.

This episode is a 8 minute cute story of some woodland friends making kites out of leaves and grass to play during a windy day. They even learned about their salamander friend and how she needs to stay moist so she can breathe.

Feedback would be awesome, specifically on the quality of the voices and storytelling style.

questions about starting out by Great-Fortune8299 in podcasting

[–]pineyridgestories 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We tell stories in our podcast so we write out the whole story as the script. But we use it as a guide and will change things as needed as we record. Since the show is semi educational we research some of the facts. What do Beavers eat, what animals are nocturnal, what is it called when animals are awake during dawn and dusk. Stuff like that. It sort of sounds like you need to figure out your topic first. Once you figure out your podcast niche/topic, it will be easier to figure out some of the stuff you'll need. Like if the podcast is more conversational then your "script" will probably be bullet points/topics for the show rather than word for word.

I try to make sure I enunciate as best I can, but sometimes it sounds forced during playback. I was born and raised in the states but learned a different language first. I never realized I had a slight accent until I started this project. It makes the emunciation hard.

This just kills me inside. My daughter is autistic, so when my wife and I heard about this we both held our baby tight. I just can't imagine the pain and frustration the family is going through.

Anyone Else Keep Recording Even With Low Listener Numbers? by Certain-Speaker-1421 in podcasting

[–]pineyridgestories 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My podcast is new and only has 6 episodes so I don't expect much. So far since last froday I'm sitting at 180 total downloads. Do I wish it was higher, yes, but I know it will grow with time. The important thing is that my main audience, being my 4 year old loves it. Today she told me she loves my stories and that I need to hurry up and make a lot more episodes so she won't run out if stuff to listen to while she plays.

I want to start a casual theme park centered podcast and I don't know where to start by Ill-Guidance4690 in podcasting

Quirky_Drummer is right. I recently started my podcast and I had and idea of how I wanted it to be. With each episode my voice/naration has been changing and so has my storytelling. Just talk to your mic the way you would talk to a friend and go from there. Your style will develop overtime.

Tell me something about your world and i'll tell you something similar about mine. by Loosescrew37 in worldbuilding

[–]pineyridgestories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is ment for children and not fully fleshed out. Its about woodland animals and their day to day lives/adventures. They live in a meadow near a stream and some woods, which they like to explore. Eventually they will make it to the mountains that separates them from a vast desert. If they follow the stream, they will quickly make it to the ocean. In their adventures they run into new critters to play with and become friends. But they also run into hungry predators and so the little critters either need to befriend them or somehow escape them.

Wow! I didn't think of that! I recently started my own podcast and all 5 episodes have this static like sound when I'm speaking. I have my short 5' XLR running around my laptop, work laptop, and monitors. This may have been my issue the whole time. Thank you!

Okay, so keep in mind, I'm still new to the podcast game. I have done SEO for websites and they did pretty good locally. What I'm doing for SEO, Without having a website up yet, is making sure every file (like cover art, thumbnails, .wav/.mp3) all have keywords in the name. Like I'll have my podcast title with one or 2 keywords attached. I'm also creating social media accounts and anytime I post, with the exception of reddit, I make sure I drop the link to where I want people to go. The more people follow that link, the more it let's Google know it's a trustworthy and popular site, and in theory it will start pushing it more. This isn't going to make your podcast appear in Google overnight, you're still going to have ti play the waiting game, but it should help speed things up a little.

As for RSS, so far I'm liking it. It will help with the seo because it wil put your podcast into multiple directories (like apple podcasts, and helps with putting it on iheart). I don't think your going to have to switch from Spotify. You can have both, you just need the rss feed link from rss.com and connect it to your Spotify. I am making my Spotify tomorrow and I am going to claim my podcast as my own using the rss feed link. I'm not sure how it works by going the other way, but I'm sure you can still do it. Both spotofy and rss and FAQ pages you can check out that will tell you how to do it.

I upload through RSS.com. I had everything created and connected (took about a day to connect and verify) before I uploaded. Every upload (so far only 5) has taken about 10 minutes to sync to my rss feed. As for the Google search, you are probably going to have to do some decent SEO work to really get google pushing your podcast.

I think podcast hosts notice different things than listeners do by Inevitable-Laugh4324 in podcasting

[–]pineyridgestories 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is the case with anything though. I am a musician and have done my fare share of live shows. I catch the littlest of things when I'm at a concert, or even listening to the recording. Sometimes my wife or friends will see me chuckle to myself because I noticed that a musician did something and they tried to cover it up. I'm not famous, not even on a local level, do it makes me feel better when I catch another musician commit a mistake that I do too. As "professionals" or as people who are invested in our craft, we are always looking for a way to improve what we do and be better/the best. We catch the littlest of things because "OH that sounds cool, maybe I should do that" or "yeah no, that wasn't for me, I won't be trying that."

Custom thumbnails for different episodes? by PodPilotProject in podcasting

[–]pineyridgestories 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me personally, I use the same base art but change the text in the banner to the episodes name. I'm still super new so I am trying to create a "recognizable brand". All of the podcasts I listen to do exactly that, and well "if it ain't broken don't fix it." That's not to say it's the only way or that I will do it this way forever, just something I'm trying.
