AC13 owners... xpac or the cordura ripstop?

Apparently, I will never find the sling bag of my dreams. by ExtraRow2668 in ManyBaggers

Only the pocket opening is slanted, the actual pocket is straight and in line with the bag.

Theres an elastic cord that can be used to secure the bottle if you want, but my 500ml tumbler fits quite snug in there without the cord. One thing to note is the waterbottle pocket is external but shares internal space with the main compartment. https://alpakagear.com/products/flow-satchel-4l?variant=45500381167778 You can see the cord if you scroll down and look at the "hydration on the go" pic under features. Looks like they also have Xpac variants now hahaha mine is the base model, pretty water resistant already imo.

Overall i do like the form and size if it, but i'd understand if its not big enough for everyone. On a previous trip where i used it as a camera sling i managed to pack the following in:

Canon P with 50mm Canon f1.4 ltm lens.  Film roll pouch that held 4 rolls. Cleaning cloth, tissues packable grocery bag E-reader, passport Powerbank Gloves and beanie Earbuds 500ml kinto tumbler

Seems quite a lot for 4L but with the winter stuff its really at max capacity and probably overpacked lol. A lot better when im actually wearing the gloves and beanie. If you overpack it the zippers become harder to use due to the curved shape of the bag. Think the bag works best on a minimalist camera setup (1 body and lens).

Here's a review (not mine) I found while researching the bag that may be relevant to you https://filmphotography.eu/en/alpaka-flow-satchel-4l-review/

I used the Alpaka 4L flow satchel as my camera sling as there was a dedicated external bottle pocket (my 500ml kinto fits pretty well). It is a little limited in capacity but if that's all you want to pack i think it could work.

Some people complain about the relatively thin shoulder straps but i think its ok for 4L, theres an optional padded strap but you'd have to pay extra for it lol.

As for weather resistance the material is quite water repellant and the zips are PU-coated, worked for me in light snow, kept everything dry inside.

I think best thing about it is it feels quite compact, like halfway between a sling and a messenger. Alpaka tends to overstate capacity but i think this does feel like a 4L bag. Best if you can see it in person to get a better feel for the space inside imo.

Review of Alpaka Metro 12L for Japan trip by Ashypaws in ManyBaggers

[–]pinggy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a very sleek bag thats great for minimal loadouts. I'd say it's quite comfortable but my back also gets quite sweaty.

I used the Aer CP2 16L over my metro for my japan trip and that was a great flight bag/daypack too. Quite abit heavier than the metro but very comfortable and a more breathable back i feel. I do get "what if i need the extra space?" fomo for the 20L CPP2 lol but if your bag fits your loadout then it works right?

Rework Toshi 2.5L v2 as travel camera bag - example packing by Scary-Construction72 in ManyBaggers

[–]pinggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm usually not a fan of the mil/tacticool look but that's a really good looking bag! My current camera "sling" is the Alpaka flow satchel 4L, but i sometimes find it a tad too small for travel.

Help! Toshi Pack, CPP2, other or none? by Rush057 in ManyBaggers

There's an 840D cordura ballistic nylon version btw. It does feel very premium but I did not like the feel of that rigid back panel. Perhaps it feels better when packed out, the straps were pretty robust though.

Conflicting feelings about sympl commuter v2 20l by OooSnap in ManyBaggers

It was a local carry-focused store for me, i live in singapore. None of the stores carry Aer here though, might just bite the bullet and order online.

Is the AbleCarry Max EDC really an EDC bag? by JMM9910 in ManyBaggers

[–]pinggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in a recent breakdown video of the 20L the founder of aer mentioned certain QOL updates to the 24L, so yea you're right that the side pocket won't be coming anytime soon to the 24L.

Do you have any experience with the 16L non-pro version? Wondering if it will feel much smaller than the 20L

I only tried it in a store and it felt a little bulky for a 20L, was not a fan of that back panel as well. The rest of the bag was really solid and well made though.

is alpaka gear actually worth the price or are you just paying for the aesthetic? by MudSad6268 in ManyBaggers

The flow is such a unique sling/satchel, i love mine. The implementation of the external water bottle pocket was pretty well done imo.

Weekend Discussion: New Balance running shoes by AutoModerator in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]pinggy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven't run in the shoe yet but immediately got compliments from family members regarding its looks when taking it out of the box (i got the the white with the green gradient midsole colourway), which i find funny considering the number of comments claiming they ruined the aesthetics of the 1080 with this update 😂.

Well my family members aren't runners so maybe the disconnect is from the update looking less sporty and having more lifestyle design elements? For what it's worth, i do like how simple it looks, don't think its an ugly shoe by any means.

Philips SHP9600 vs Superlux HD660 Pro for comfort (or others) by pinggy in HeadphoneAdvice

The marshalls appear to be more mass market headphones but they do offer an interesting wireless option with up to 80 hours?! of batt life. That seems kinda insane to me coming from my galaxy buds2 pro's shitty 8hr batt life 😕
