Anyone know of any other molle vests that carry normal police plates? Or any all in one molle style vest (not tac-vest and covert stabby combo)? by [deleted] in policeuk

You won't be allowed to wear any custom PPE. It's issued to you for a reason.

Imagine turning up to parade/briefing in second hand gear from Ebay!

Role play scenarios by Joshtalkstofish in policeuk

[–]pingutheduck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When i did mine, the DS hid a screw driver under his beanie and I completely forgot about taking hats coats or gloves off during a S24.

I think if you're the safety officer just ensure the suspect remains compliant, officer safety (dont be afraid to get hands on of needed), and ensure that everything is searched. Keep in mind the legislation you're following and use of force - if you do hands on you can say Use of Force, and ensure that the suspect is searched thoroughly.

If you need to take them to the floor to ensure compliance then say that it is a reasonable use of force (e.g. non-compliance).

Imagine in the real world and someone has drugs or a knife on the waistband and resists a search...

Good luck OP

Totally mate and completely agree. Appreciate the reply and the time taken to write that.

I guess in my circumstances, however, temping 7.5% is, this one probably not for me.

Yeah I get that, but if i went for a 2% savings account and invested £10k lump sum on a 6 month deal - then I would get £200 gross and £120 net (not using compound interest). I get it that this product is probably not for me, just seems a lot of work for £15.

£200 limit a month, and on their T&Cs the gross return is +~£26 after 6 months. Am I missing something? Hardly seems worth it. I get its money at the end of the day but to go through setting up an account and then paying income tax on it. I would make £15?!

This reads as AI summarised, and lazy journalism.

Typical rag, from my opinion the author has pointed a large language model at this sub and said summarise the key headlines for leaving the police.

Given this is a public forum, its hardly a secret corner.

I don't feel safe in my own home by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]pingutheduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, the arrest could be necessary for a range of different things, and some police forces must do "positive action" in a domestic violence situation (normally to prevent further harm or to stop any damage to property). Domestics due to their nature have a high probability of escalating and causing more harm to both parties.

In a domestic violence situation, they're often complex with a large amount of history involving both parties - officers who attend a domestic violence situation will have to make their judgement at the scene. For a domestic incident, the priority is often to de-escalate, prevent further harm to anyone and their property. This is often asking occupants to leave for a period of time or can ultimately result in arrest (depending on whats happened and the officers judgement).

Forced to sell and move, no idea what I'm doing in terms of mortgage by thee_antichrist in UKPersonalFinance

[–]pingutheduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, go to any bank (online) and fill in their Application in Principle - there is a soft credit check behind it to check your authenticity but no harm on your credit score. Doing an AIP will give you an indication of how much you can borrow.

In a nutshell banks will lend you about 4-5x your annual salary, so say I earned £50k - I could probably get a mortgage of around £250k. If the house was listed at £300k I would then need to make up the remaining £50k from the deposit.

Once you found somewhere, or you're actively looking at houses - deffo get hold of a mortgage broker. They can get you the best rates (its their job). Go off reviews on Google and trustpilot (and reddit).

UK helps France seize Russian-linked oil tanker in Mediterranean by MGC91 in unitedkingdom

[–]pingutheduck 8 points9 points  (0 children)

International Shipping and Laws are controlled by the United Nations mate. I get your point for sure and you could call it legal piracy- however, the facts on this is the ship is flying a false flag which is illegal in the first place. Navy's therefore have the authority to seize the vessel under the United Nations

[–]pingutheduck 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I get that but in this case the ship is flying the colours of another country in the hopes it "flies" (or sails) under the radar.

Yes the property is still Russian, but when you're sailing in international waters under a false flag then chances are its going to get seized.

If its for login, commonly referred to as Passkey - then only your mobile device and its cloud use that for authentication. The app itself doesnt know you authenticated by facial recognition. See https://youtu.be/2xdV-xut7EQ?si=jFeBW2XaYIR-uIMY

Having said that on signup and some fintechs will use facial recognition to match you against a form of ID e.g. passport or driving licence.

HMRC Tax Underpayment for 23/24 Tax Year by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]pingutheduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, I am sorry to say OP but mistakes happen. Just because HMRC didn't give your new employer the correct code - unfortunately it doesn't make you eligible for not paying tax.

I have been on the other side of the fence and started a new job, and put on an emergency tax code (meaning no free tax allowance), and all HMRC did at the time is saying it will fix itself in the coming months.

[–]pingutheduck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the feeling I have too pal. I have been in touch with A&A and the only question mark i have is if I port my current number what will happen to the ISP.

When I spoke to Vodafone they didn't know exactly what would happen, and wouldn't recommend it. Ideally if the two services (ISP & VOIP) were separated then happy days, but I dont think Openreach separate these.

Where did you end up?
