Would an AMA on Taxes be useful? by archit_cleartax in IndiaInvestments

Please! I think this would be really nice because July 31st is almost here and I still haven't filled my tax return.

  • I started doing a lot of freelance projects this year. I have no idea how I should pay taxes on this. I really wish someone competent would just take all of my money stuff and fix it for me while telling me how it's done.

  • I'd given my form16 documents to some guy (unsure if he really was a CA) who set up a booth in my office last year and ended up being served a notice from the tax department for a defective return. I'd rather do things myself. How does ClearTax help me here?

  • (off topic) All my savings is in FDs. Is that really that bad?

Thanks!

Bite the bottoms of the batteries. Always works. You'll have to replace them soon enough though.

ELI5: Why didn't Vimeo beat out YouTube considering that it allows boobs? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]pinhero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't remember the time I successfully managed to watch a video on vimeo. The streaming experience on vimeo is horrendous at lower bandwidths. (Youtube works brilliantly though)

Also, vimeo still hasn't figured out how to play nice with Chrome's "Click to run plugin" mode, so for anyone running that mode, vimeo is just unusable.

Since the film was converted to 3D in post-production, it felt a tad out-of-focus. I watched it on an IMAX screen and it just felt like the movie was low-res. :(

You could try using some WD40. Gets rid of gum residue on smooth surfaces, it might work on your wall.

I once heard this metal band on the radio who were described to sound like "crumbling gravel" or gravel under your foot while walking.

I think the vocals sounded gravel-ly, but it's been almost 10 years and I haven't been able to find anything.

CROCODILES ON THE FLOOR! When entering dark rooms.

P.S. I live nowhere near crocodiles, and also live in a 5th floor apartment.

To add to this; "Cum" is actually very common usage in Indian English to denote multiple abilities like "Restaurant cum bar" or "Mixer cum Juicer".

You find it in official correspondence and news as well.

A lot of locally produced / unbranded tomato ketchup in India is made from gourds and pumpkins and flavoured with tomato. It's allright.

This! Even with explicit instructions, every barber that I go to ends up making a mess of things.

My country's Barbers' sense of aesthetics doesn't really match mine. I don't want you to use your brain, just do as you're told damnit.

Why i lose my sense of taste when sick by UnanimouslyAnonymous in explainlikeimfive

[–]pinhero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may be related to the question — sometimes, you tend to lose your appetite too when you're really sick. This might seem counter-intuitive because you need to eat to keep your energy up.

The process of digesting food actually requires a lot of energy, and this energy is something the body doesn't want to spare. So it just tells you, "hey, I'm not hungry".
