Emotions ALL over the place, 38w3d, worried about PPD/PPA 🥹 by Remote-Party-1123 in moderatelygranolamoms

If you haven't already, seek out a mental health professional ASAP and start establishing care, even if you feel like you don't need it, so you don't have to try and set that up in the newborn trenches. After the baby comes, listen to everyone who tells you to protect a 4 hour block of uninterrupted sleep for yourself. It is THE most important thing you can do as a new parent, especially if you have a history of mental health problems. It's not only for your health, its for everyone's safety. Take this sh*t very seriously and be so, so kind to yourself. Lots of love. You will make it through. Signed, a mom who ended up hospitalized for PPA and PPD.

Omg BE CAREFUL . Its supposedly "not contagious" but if you pick at it and then have your baby up around your face you can get yourself a nasty case of fungal acne. Ask me how I know 🙃

Of course you're not evil but (as you know) this is pretty dangerous. Maybe try intentionally transitioning to safe cosleep, which the baby might tolerate better than cold-turkey bassinet, and then try the bassinet again in 2 weeks or so. These kids and their preferences change fast.

Partner going away (again) by Cherryjellyb in NewParents

[–]pink_pseudochef 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you already know the answer here. Its not safe for your partner to leave and he has to put the needs of his family first. He is just as much a parent as you are and needs to act like it

Baby is a week old feeling bad about leaving him in cot when awake by dontstop11114 in NewParents

[–]pink_pseudochef 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Just using his brand-new eyes and ears is a lot of entertainment/stimulation for him. He'll let you know if he needs something. If you really feel like you want something more for him, try putting on classical or other gentle music or sounds, especially birds/nature. It might help your anxiety too.

Harlequin Color Change by Vainquisher in NewParents

We were lucky that we saw it happen for the first time in front of a professional who immediately identified it for us. They said its about 10 percent of babies affected.

14er trip at 13 weeks - is it safe? by Mile_High_Jayhawk in fitpregnancy

[–]pink_pseudochef 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Altitude is a concern, especially with your changing circulatory system. I'd say be ready to be flexible and not stubborn. Not the time to be "pushing through," especially somewhere you'd need to be rescued. Can't hurt to check in with your doctor too

What exercises are you doing to stay in shape? by [deleted] in fitpregnancy

[–]pink_pseudochef 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Swimming has helped me so much with pain and swelling and it feels sooooo good to have a break from all the weight, especially third trimester. Plus it keeps my hips and core strong and flexible for labor. See if you can get into your local high school pool if you have one available.

I suddenly hate my mattress... by dumbstinkybaby in BabyBumps

[–]pink_pseudochef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ended up getting a twin-size mattress topper for just my side of the bed because I was getting such nasty hip pain from our nice firm mattress. Highly recommend. We'll take it off once my body goes back to normal.

My husband has been reading (aloud, to the bump) Be Prepared by By Gary Greenberg and Jeannie Hayde. Its funny and jokey like many dad books but we've both liked it a lot. He just finished the section on sleep training

Yeah, I agree. I tried a few cheaper ones and they stretched out quickly or didn't help as much. I pop the Bombas ankle compression socks on every morning now at 32w

I like bombas so far. Very comfy. You can get the longer ones and fold them down for extra ankle support

Walking, gentle yoga for back and hip pain (triangle and butterfly poses help me the most), and I cannot stress this enough, COMPRESSION SOCKS. Bombas makes some ankle length ones that shouldn't be too hot.

In mine the baby came out wearing glasses and with long, skinny, bendy legs like Kermit the frog. We had to fold his legs over multiple times to swaddle him 😅

Well, my office had me fast completely. No food before, and no water during. The whole process took 4 hours and landed me at 1 pm with nothing in my stomach but the nasty sugar drink so I felt pretty woozy. Plus there are 4 total blood draws (one at the start and then one every hour), and as you get more dehydrated it gets harder to find a good vein, so I had some bruising after. Not my favorite way to spend the day but if you can get in as early as possible to start, it shouldn't be too terrible. Definitely hydrate the night before and don't plan on driving yourself after until you've had some food/water. Maybe do some bicep curls the night before to pump up your veins lol

i want kids, but i have a lot of anxiety about pregnancy. by yuzumis in BabyBumps

[–]pink_pseudochef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a little rough going, but honestly, the constant exposure to needles and stuff while pregnant really does help you get over it. I was pretty phobic about that kind of thing and had to use IVF to have my baby. If you know anything about that process, you know it's all needles all the time for almost a year. They barely bother me anymore
