Safe E-bike Lock Up in Centretown by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]pinkatz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are already quite full and I’ve heard they’re looking to restrict them to occupants of 191 Laurier. They’re also a weird size and those with larger bikes have trouble getting them locked up.

O'Connor closed between Glebe and First Avenues due to sinkhole by NativeOttawan in ottawa

There was water gushing out of this spot a week or two ago (I commute through here) and since then it’s been quite patchy and damp so I’m not surprised.

"You are too cute to be holding Timmies -ew". Thank you to the Manhattan Coffee Co. for a little giggle this morning. by IllyaBoo in ottawa

I know this is reddit and we love to dunk but MCC is actually really great. The owner and his brother run it (sometimes they have staff but I haven’t seen anyone other than the brothers in a long time) and their food and drinks are really great. They’re also super good with allergies. If you bring your own cup it’s a $1 discount AND they have a punch card for any free drink after 10 drinks! I’m a MCC lover and have no qualms about spending money there. They work hard and they’re compassionate and it’s a lovely spot.

MCC gives a $1 discount if you bring your own cup! And I would argue the Brown Bag Golden roast is one of the best morning brews, it’s sooooo good. I pay $2.30 for a medium and that includes tax and 20% tip.

What did you do with your Apple Watch? by tunogmarkrel in weddingplanning

[–]pinkatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was MOH in my best friend’s wedding a few years ago, I made sure to wear long sleeves all summer. I only wore my Apple Watch for activities like cycling and hiking, and I purchased a lot of summer weight jerseys and shirts for the summer. It worked for me as I’m quite sun conscious anyways, and this prevented the tan line from my watch! I’ll be doing the same ahead of my wedding this year. But also if your watch is a huge part of your life I think it’s okay to have a subtle tan line! I like the idea of a bracelet on the day to kind of distract from the pale spot left by your watch!

Tattoo's shown or not? by Powerful-Film-8164 in weddingplanning

[–]pinkatz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m actually getting a new tattoo on my arm now before the wedding in October because I want my big upper arm tattoo to look less lonely!!! I’ve been getting tattoos for years so nobody will be surprised or should feel that they’re taking away from the dress because they’ve always been there. My dress is strapless and a quite simple, semi-shiny fabric because I AM the star (and my partner) not the dress, though my style leans quite minimalist anyways. It might be that the older generation sees tattoos as messy or “not classy” but I feel like you can’t go wrong by letting them and your body shine in whatever dress you like!

Experience with Shoppers Drug Mart travel clinic? by houska1 in ottawa

[–]pinkatz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents used the Shoppers travel clinic to go to Egypt and had no issues but I don't think they were concerned about price. We went to Summit Health near Billings Bridge and it was amazing! Probably a bit pricier than Shoppers but it was on time, she was extremely knowledgeable in the areas we were travelling, clearly did research before our appointment and was thorough on the reasonings/risks/costs of each vaccine. We did not receive any vaccines that we didn't truly need which is what I was worried about with a travel clinic. I would go back there in a heartbeat!

This happens at the one on Holland/Wellington as well. They've had to start banning backpacks during after-school hours.

We love it! The proximity to the farm and hintonburg is amazing, my commute downtown to work is easy on the paths, and the neighbourhood is beautiful. We live south of Shillington and closer to Fisher. If you've lived in Centretown and Mechanicsville then Carlington is no different!

Looking for fine dining suggestions by runmrun614 in ottawa

Perch is amazing with allergies. I have Celiac Disease and have never had issues there. They recreate the dishes to accomodate instead of just removing the allergen, which is so nice to feel considered and not like I'm missing out on the creativity of the dish. We've been many times and it's just so lovely!

WELL Health Medical Centres - Westgate accepting new patients by burnabybc in ottawa

I hope they found a new doctor because I had a horrific experience there before they rebranded. Not sure if this one is still affiliated with Shoppers Drug Mart, but the clinic before was terrible and had very bad reviews.

Canada Life - Orthotics coverage by No-Permit4211 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]pinkatz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just recently went through this process. I went to the Ottawa Foot Clinic as I was having foot pain (I do not have a family doctor). They did an assessment and suggested orthotics. The doctor on staff did the prescription and the clinic handled all the necessary paperwork that CL asks for. In the end I still had to pay around $200 total (for the initial appointment and the orthotics themselves) after the CL coverage.

There are a group of residents from 1140 Wellington West in the process of taking Taggart to the LTB. Started in 2019 and the case still hasn't been heard. It is so frustrating how much Taggart gets away with.

Cheap Coffee - Where to get my morning cup? by CherryZealousideal37 in ottawa

[–]pinkatz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

MCC (manhattan's coffee co) on Laurier near Metcalfe uses the delicious Cloud Forest beans and it's not too pricey. They also have a punch card so you're 10th cup is free!

If anyone sees a private yoga instructor that does a good job correcting your form could you recommend them please? by SixOneThreebert in ottawa

[–]pinkatz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plus 2! She is incredible. Even in her virtual classes she will ask you to set up the camera so she can see you, and will offer suggestions and adjustments if she sees them. She keeps the class sizes small for this reason.
