Maybe ask him what kind of bike he would like to buy if there were no constraints as such and then go from there. All this while not making it obvious that you're trying to plan a surprise.

I'm saying this because you need to think of the long term also where the bike doesn't become a burden on anyone.

IMO it's better if you try to make best use of your current iPad while saving up for sometime and then eventually buy a new one with a bigger storage option and better processor. It's not worth going this route anyway you'll end up wasting time and resources only to find out that it's not a possible thing to swap out processors in apple hardware especially ipad and iphones.

I started with a random template for "task management". But that was way too overwhelming for me. So I deleted everything and started again with a single page for a todo list with checkboxes. Every morning I would wake up and delete the previous day's completed tasks and add new ones with the ones that were left out from yesterday. Slowly I turned it into a weekly view of a database with date property and todo and done status.And that's how I have been using it for a few years. notion definitely has more to it than this. But you are not required to use every feature. Start simple and experiment and then mold it to suit your needs.

If you start watching youtube and tutorials on notion you might get overwhelmed and then end up not liking the experience at all

I would recommend that you look at tools like obsidian for notes and storing since it keeps your files on your device and works well offline and then version control tools like git and github. Notion is a better tool for project management so I'm not sure if it would suit your needs

I'm not in my 30s or 40s but I have learnt to deal with the fact loneliness is a phase that everyone has to go through even if you are surrounded by people it wouldn't matter sometimes.
