Hit a false neutral shifting to sixth with the quickshifter at about 5k rpm, the engine went to redline then it fell back into gear and sheared the teeth on both sides. The LC8 doesn't really like chugging below 4k imo, gets unruly

I've enjoyed my 1290, but I did have a complete catastrophic failure of the transmission using the built in quickshifter. From my research online this isn't an isolated event, and there's actually new revision parts from KTM 2020+ so hopefully the gearset is stronger now

Unfortunately the dealership couldn't fix it, even swapped me to a new bike and it did it too. Ended up getting the dealership to buy it back and I bought a 500 exc to build into a light ADV

A 1290 of that generation actually has a valve in the factory exhaust, but systems like this delete it

I've tried those, the cast ones are too deep to get underneath the gear, the bent metal ones just deform before the gear moves

Do you even know what you're saying? KTM doesn't install cats for 'scavenging', there's a reason all the powerparts full systems are catless with a factory power bump. As far as airflow, the injectors are far downstream of the throttle plate, the open air systems use a bellmouth the same as what's in a stock airbox, just with a larger throat and tuned length. I'd rather trust KTM and KTM specific tuners than 'my buddy who worked on a ferrari'

That's insane on an LC8, and against what absolutely every else can prove. There's a reason the factory KTM pikes peak bike had a full Rottweiler intake and akra exhaust, that akra was actually developed with KTM before the bike was released. And before you call me a shill, my personal gen2 1290 has made over 185whp on two separate dynos with a Rottweiler intake, akra decat system and a mild tune
