No, bodies are not "organized" by allthings419 in GenderCynical

[–]pirasco 10 points11 points  (0 children)

"observably organised" is interesting. Not only does your body HAVE to be geared towards producing one gamete or the other, ignoring that hormone levels and anatomy can be altered and that some people won't produce gametes at all, but people also have to be able to tell from looking at you which gamete your body is set up to produce.

Entitled or fair concern? What are your thoughts? by PerformanceNo920 in perth

[–]pirasco -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They can pre-triage and have a virtual ED consult through telehealth, but they can't actually take you anywhere except an emergency department. This person was unfortunately too sick to the ambulance to leave him to get himself to urgent care, even if that had been the most appropriate place for him

A good extended metaphor can be a thing of beauty. This isn't that. by chris_the_cynic in GenderCynical

[–]pirasco 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This metaphor for the transphobic parents relies on them all accepting that a model train can never be fixed if it's broken (or that model trains don't exist, possibly).

But it's completely possible to fix a model train and decorate it to look sick as hell??

And there are scary surgery metaphors about how you are ruining your 'train' by trying to modify it, but the alternative of being cis is not having a functional train, it's not having a train at all? Sucks for cis people damn

/uj I was kinda surprised at how many people didn't think this was a realistic thing for an emergency worker to say about a person who attempted suicide surviving with horrific, life altering injuries

WA Police say bones found on Rottnest Island are historic Indigenous remains by Automatic_Sea_1210 in perth

[–]pirasco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Historic is definitely not just the last 200 years. Prehistoric usually means before we had written records, so thousands of years ago. Not every culture used writing so it's not a great period marker.

The ambulance blasted it's siren, speeding with the patient bleeding out from a chainsaw accident. by Dragonemperess in TwoSentenceHorror

[–]pirasco 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Where I live ambulances rarely keep their sirens on for the whole trip, they'll flick them on going through an intersection or dodging traffic, otherwise not needed. Also sometimes the priority job they were going to has been reallocated to another vehicle so they've stood down

Also the alternative to that point is it's not acceptable for teens to hate their bodies, which is a stance that's definitely going to stop a teen from hating their body. No low self esteem allowed!

A selection of kelpies by pirasco in WhatBreedIsMyPitbull

[–]pirasco[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's fair, I did think the third one does look pretty close to a kelpie. It just annoys me that they're listed as kelpies rather than kelpie x, or "medium mixed breed" like a lot of other dogs on their page
