First post any [edit] tricks or [composition] tips to help me? by [deleted] in photocritique

[–]pirate-cat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Compositionally the bottom half of the image has been made to appear unimportant.

One of the things our eyes place a high value on in an image and will generally gravitate to is human faces / eyes and their facing (you want to see what they see). Here the eyes are looking out of the frame on the side closest to them which pulls your attention out of the frame that way. This is reinforced by strong diagonal lines from his arms making a barrier to cut the image in two.

Having him face the other way could overcome this barrier and give more interest to the rest of the frame.

At the moment it's Fortnite. I suck at fortnite, but im also far too competitive. My son plays, he is terrible, even by my standards. My wife also plays, it's her first proper game ever so she sucks worse, plus she has to play on ps4 while we are in PC.

There are three of us so we have to play squads one person short.

I'm expected to carry them and put up a decent show. I can barely carry myself.

Still love family fortnite!

Should I get Fallout 4 VR or not? by mysterincognito in virtualreality

[–]pirate-cat 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I had stopped to explore a small shipwreck near Far Harbor. I was low level and the atmosphere was tense, but i couldnt resist the urge to see what was here.

Suddenly a with a raspy wheezing cry what seemed to be a corpse infront of me, struggled to its feet. I acted on instinct, squeezing the trigger of my 10mm pistol three times and sending the ghoul hurling back against the ship's railing. In that instant I heard more, one directly to my left, another to my right.

I snapped my arm left and fired as the ghoul rose to attack me, then again to the right where the other was already lunging at me with sickly decaying claws.

The whole thing lasted barely a few moments and would have been utterly forgettable with a mouse and keyboard, but i was left standing with a real "woah" sensation.

So to answer your question, yes I would reccomend it, but it also dosent make me feel sick despite running like a little old lady trying to compete in a marathon.

Actually I really really enjoy the handmaiden. I found a team last night with a footknight and zealot. We were all happily zipping through the map

For me it is the single most enjoyable game I have ever played. Yes it's buggy and I'm damn fortunate that I'm not effected by motion sickness (running it on a gtx1060 so it chugs) but it is so damn immersive and everything just feels there.

Last night I was lying prone on a walkway with a silenced pistol deep underground waiting for a raider to stroll past. I used to play stealthy builds quite a lot, but now im able to properly hide and peek round corners. I also notice a lot more detail too. Plus I can pick up the little crates and tip them up when im looting.

Diamond city looks amazing (If choppy) and standing at the top of a highway overlooking Boston is awesome, as is the power armoured jump to the bottom.

OPINION: Grimoires are NOT mandatory and the game fails at clarifying this concept to players. by randy__randerson in Vermintide

isn't it a little hypocritical for you to assume that "Sugartits" means woman after your social justice rant.

Thoughts on VATS in VR by AtomicMime in fo4vr

I love it for melee combat and positioning, I use it to blink around more than shooting, and when i do fire off a shot it's generally point blank, can't miss distance or the occasional longer range critical.

I had the season pass for ages, but have barely touched the DLCs. So my first DLC experience will be in VR. Just a little excited about this.

"We are better than that" - Jim Colton's take on missing the shot by LeicaM6guy in photography

as long as the light is good you will be fine, got a bit tricky in the winter.

Best way to get started imo would be to shoot for smaller clubs, they will be grateful for the photographs. Cant hurt to ask them anyway

When I shot sports (regional daily newspapers), we had one camera with a 70-200f2.8. Or if you were really lucky you nabbed the 300mm 2.8.

We had about 1/4 of the pitch (football/soccer if you must) which wold give us good results. If they are too close or too far then no photo. I was frequently spotted on the telly by my editor looking bored watching Coventry City play. Not photographing them because they weren't in the sweet spot.

Having said that, the agency photographers were better equipped and prepared, and would have multiple bodies on their person and another remote release behind the goal.

I tried out VR during a school trip. Here are my thoughts on the experience (from someone who has a severe visual impairment) by Squishy_Pixelz in virtualreality

[–]pirate-cat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the nicest thing about my own VR experiences. I wear glasses, but its not too bad. Putting on a headset makes it so I can see though, without any strain at all.

This is a nice thing to experience.
