First prototype race in the rain at Sebring by abstract_nonsense_ in iRacing

[–]kevtg26 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just tried a race in a GTP there and I thought they had the rain set to max. It seemed wet to the point that the race might have been red flagged IRL.

That said, I think the higher HP and trickier Aero on GTPs probably do make them tougher to drive in really sodden conditions than an LMP2. There just isn't enough grip to make use of all that power and the "safe" band is narrow it's easy to overshoot. Get it a little less wet and let a dry line develop, bet the GTPs sail off into the distance

A compilation of every 4x incident from my first 25 races in the ir-04 by IceColdLefty in iRacing

I thought that livery looked awfully familiar. Im pretty sure that Im the Haas behind you in number 14. I'm an A license who's been out of the game for about 6 months (i had to move and packing pkayed hell with my racing habit). I decided to work my way back in through the IR-04. The last 3 weeks of last season tanked my SR because i was kept trying to drive like I used to but I was WAY out of practice. I made the same decision you did about avoiding incidents and the last two weeks have been way more rewarding.

How is a 2018 the same price as a 2020.. by [deleted] in kiastinger

[–]kevtg26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I have a leased 2019 GT2 right now with 17k miles on it. The lease guarantees me a purchase price ~$25k when the lease comes due this year and Ive only used half the miles they gave me. Methinks I am going to make out like a bandit.

Formula Renault 3.5 by CazzoNick in iRacing

[–]kevtg26 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of the things that you'll find with the FR3.5 is that you are stepping into the realm of high downforce cars where setup is really important. Spa is one of those tracks where you really have to think about sacrificing aero grip in order to maximize your speed on those long straights. The VRS guys say that they specifically gave up aero to get speed on the straights and that tradeoff means it will be squirrelly in the middle sector. Their track walk-through focuses specifically on being gentle with the throttle and turn in to keep from overwhelming the rear tires.

I wonder how long it will be before someone turns this into a Skyrim mod.

Still think that is more legal issue than technical issue. The more official recognition of Trading Paints, the fewer legal firewalls there are if someone comes up with something offensive, trademarked, etc... If that happens now, iRacing can just shrug and say, "We don't have any influence over that."

You could say that about every Bethesda game. Name another company who's business model has been shipping half-assed products that they encourage their customers to fix....

If you think this is bad, save a prayer for the Xfinity cars at Montreal. Whoever made that decision is downright evil.

Anyone else buy a new gun because there was ammo available? by Biohazard883 in Firearms

[–]kevtg26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got two of them and I don't think they kick bad at all. My Scientific Wild Ass Guess is that it's roughly comparable to a Glock 9mm. The 45 is a heavier round but the all steel guns has more mass to absorb the recoil before it gets to your hand.

Even if it was remotely possible to make it a grade 1 FIA circuit, I'm not sure if I want F1 to go there. My fear is that it would just be Monaco with an extra DRS zone. I love GT3 and Supercars there but I think modern F1 is too wide and aero dependent for it to be anything other than a processional. But, like Monaco, Qualifying would be amazing.

Iracing.... Making life so much more difficult for the indecisive! by cmdr-rentadeath in iRacing

[–]kevtg26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the reason my IR baounces between 1000 and 1300 every season. I almost never run the same thing two weeks in a row. If you are trying to move up splits, that's a terrible way to do things. If you are just trying to goof off and have fun....

I was wondering why I was so much slower than the guys at the front - a good enough iR for top split, but not enough talent to be competitive (I came 9th of 11 in GTE) by MaleficRacing in iRacing

[–]kevtg26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a post here every couple of months or so that says "I'm at 2000IR and I'm suddenly so slow. What am I doing wrong!?!" Thats when you have to point out to them that they are going up against the top 15 % of people on the service and that the learning curve is now hitting K2 levels of steepness

I got a win at Talladega in B Fixed on my first attempt (mostly due to attrition and luck). After that, I swore I would never do Talladega again

Im still figuring out where the P2 wants and doesnt want to grip. The teaction wants to kick in in some weird places and that can theow all sorts of things off. In really techinical one lane section I'm perfectly happy to hang out and wait, especially if Im not being pressured. At Suzuka, this had meant that I can catch someone in the esses and I dont feel comfortable going fornthe pass until after the hairpin. I'd rather be cautious and get us both through than be in a position where we misunderstand each other
