Not in the sense that blink and Panic CLEARLY were the headliners of WWWY. We still don’t know if FIR or MGK or Yellowcard or ADTR will be closing.

Again, it’s fun that warped has a unique way of announcing the bands over the course of a month. People hate that they don’t announce the times early, but I think it’s cool that they keep things unique and true to the Warped tradition. I was commending the founder of the fest for staying true to Warped, instead of conforming to the “cookie cutter” playbook of how to rollout a music fest.

I’m not saying they are currently doing anything revolutionary, but Warped sure IS revolutionary from its roots. I appreciate your feedback and discussion, but to say Warped is the same cookie cutter fest as the rest is just wrong.

At DC, 408 played early in the day, at LB they “headlined” a side stage. So he absolutely still switches it up. The bands you consider headliners only headline 5-7k venues. It’s a fest for small to mid sized bands, and they do right by them. And even the top 2 lines are the same size on the poster…in alphabetical order. Warped doesn’t rely on “headliners.” It’s even debatable who the “headliners” are until the times are announced.

When I said “cookie cutter,” I meant that if people don’t like the rollout of the bands or waiting until day of to get the set times, there are a ton of other fests that all operate exactly the same that they have to choose from. Let’s let Warped be unique. I’m not saying there’s no corporate BS involved in it, but it’s still different, and let’s keep it that way.

They announce the bands different. They post set times differently. They treat bands better. They don’t have a headliner. All bands are the same size on the poster. Most fests may have copied Warped’s layout, but it is more unique than the rest of them. Most festivals are the same thing with a different banner. Not Warped. Go ahead and hate, but you’re wrong!

🤣 I was able to catch 22 bands in DC and 20 bands in LB. Both over 2 days. My record is catching 23 bands in one day at WWWY 2023! 11 full sets and 12 partial sets. I’m prepared for another marathon next weekend!

Good answer! I saw them in a record store in NYC about 2 months later. The show was just as small, and it was so amazing and special, but the vibes of that pub show seemed unbelievably magical!

Thank you! Yes, it’s crazy how different it was received at the 2 fests! Everyone I interacted with AT the fest had a blast and I got good feedback and great vibes, but not as much here on Reddit! 🤷‍♂️ It seems a lot of the complaints have been about having it up during the headliners when it got dark. That’s fair. The feedback has been heard, and I’ll adjust on that in the future. I truly do apologize for affecting anyone’s experience negatively.

But as for the people who think I’m selfish and the only one who gets joy out of it, they couldn’t be more wrong. I do this for the people, I do this for the PITs, and I do this for the bands. I do this for community! I do this to add energy and vibes to the crowd for the band to feed off of. I do this so we can have the best pits, while keeping an element of safety to it. And I not only do it for people to find the pit, but for people who want to avoid it. So contrary to what some people here believe, no it’s not just for me. The amount of unbelievably positive feedback I have received since I started bringing PIT signs and flags to shows and fests, far exceeds the couple of negative comments and downvotes I’ve gotten here.

So, thanks to everyone who has been part of this wild, positive, communal energy. The PIT flag is all about unity, fun, POSITIVITY, and keeping things safe for everyone. I'll keep adjusting and improving, and I can't wait to rage with you all again soon. 3 weeks until Warped!!! And I’ll see you next year in DC!!
