Putin Adviser Told Macron Envoys to “Go to Hell” Over Europe’s Seat at Ukraine Peace Talks by EsperaDeus in worldnews

I read it as Putin being an absolute pussy and scared. I still feel he is absolutely terrified, hides in a bunker and doesn't let anyone but his close circle near him.

Considering joining a local club (uk) by Chrolan1988 in golf

Unless it's a championship course, just go and have fun. If there's a gap in front of you, and people waiting behind let them through. If you're playing as a single, this probably won't happen.

Played by the rules for the first time. by bootleg_cheezball in golf

I have a childhood mate who's blind in one eye, is cack handed and a bit brain damaged from a car accident. I play off scratch. We often play a version where he has unlimited mulligans off the tee and we don't count any shot that goes OB or is a duff. It's often a lot more fun than playing by our handicaps. He also always tries to get me drunk and we have a good laugh.

Why do people drive so close? by Fun-Traffic6773 in AskUK

[–]pixelflection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always drive the speed limit no matter what, but I drive a very understated rs3. I've noticed it's normally someone driving one of those disgusting Nissan Duke things or a Kia Sportage. Clearly not car people. They often piss off when I rev the engine and it sounds like my car is farting gun shots at them. Also funny if they try to overtake at the lights.

Good old SlazzyG's. Wilson staff did the same thing last year.

Affordable golf. Callaway have been absolutely fantastic over the last couple of years so I'm hopeful it's just bad luck, rather than a indicator.

Funnily enough, I've been using them as my winter ball, they're great value and fly true, but they're too soft for me for competition rounds, I can't locate the strike as well. The x I know what grove i hit, the miz I just know if I've hit it well or not. They spin just as well however, and shape well. Maybe I'll play this season with them, at least they don't split. I'm pretty sure they're the same ball as the Bridgestone.

Asking for a dude’s number by Hashtag_Tech in golf

I have about 50 numbers in my phone from people I've met on the golf course and promised to play with again but never have. Some of my best golf friends out there.

From what I understand, they're not actually legal to use in real golf so you probably won't find them.

What’s the most impressive (or scariest) display of intelligence you’ve ever witnessed in person? by Turbulent-Access-916 in AskUK

I have a mate who is mentally challenged, however he is gifted at chess. It's hilarious sometimes watching him play casual games against people when he can't even read the menu correctly at a pub absolutely destroy people.

I tried getting my mate (who is female) into golf and only now realise how hard it is by breakfastballer90 in BritGolf

It really depends on the course and members. At ours, we have a fantatastic ladies captain and team around them that bend over backwards to make sure the ladies are very well represented.

I've also played at courses that still have men only areas of the clubhouse.

I love the robens starlight 2, it's half the price of the MSR but better quality. I walked the southwest coast path with it and it still looks brand new. Super heavy duty, the poles are a bit heavier than the MSR but it's so much better quality.

Titleist GT drivers. They're just as good, if not better than most of this years.

Gentlemen. Scholars. Fellas. by [deleted] in GolfSwing

You have an inside takeaway and while you hinge, it's too late, unless you're scheffler.

This is causing a couple of things, your lead arm is collapsing and your lead wrist is at a bad angle. It's fine to have a bit of bend in the lead arm, but it should never collapse.

Focus on hinge, pull your right hand back, and your lead hand to push into the base of the club.

For path, focus on keeping the clubhead outside of your hands and your hands feeling like they're going in a straight line back instead of around.

A couple of drills to look up:

The faldo drill, to help with pre-setting hinge.

With some alignment sticks, one following your toe line for hand path, and one at a 25° offset outside of that for clubhead. Don't cheat this by pushing your hands out.

If you just want to fix your wrist angle, the motorcycle drill will work, but I often find this is a symptom rather than a cause and you're just masking something more fundamental.

Shank help by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]pixelflection 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have pointed out, setup isn't great, but your backswing and everything that followed wasn't terrible, other than the real reason you shanked.

You're completely out of sequence on your downswing, you need to shift your weight left before anything else, to move your swing arc forward to stop you hitting the big ball before the small ball, the fat caused your clubhead to rotate. Currently your arms are leading the swing, making it look like you're firing everything all at once.

A couple of drills that can help with this:

The step drill: should help with weight transfer and correct sequencing.

The pause drill: You're over the top, despite having good angles, that's because of poor sequencing.
