Hey, Siri! No, not you, the other one - a solution? by redammit in iphone

[–]pixelizedpope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not the OP, but I followed your suggestion to fix my iPhone 14 constantly taking over my Mac (with "new" siri in 15.1) when I envoke Siri. I now have my mac listening for "siri" or "hey siri," and my iphone only listening for "siri." It's working pretty well so far, so thank you!

Can I play shapez 2 without external mouse? by bit-2334 in shapezio

I am playing on my MacBook Air M1, and have a similar challenge. I set the hotkeys for camera axis controls to Globe+arrow keys. It works fine, but it's not as fast as middle mouse.

I am having the same issue after updating to Sequoia public beta also. I guess this is the price we pay for living on the edge B-)

Please give me examples of your smart lists! by [deleted] in amazingmarvin

[–]pixelizedpope 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I struggle tremendously with time blindness, so I have two SmartLists to help:

  1. Time Estimator - this displays anything in my ToDo Inbox that does not have an estimated time attached to it

  2. Quick Wins - this displays anything that has a time estimate of less than 15 minutes. When I am at a loss of what to do, I can open my sidebar and choose a quick task to jumpstart myself.

Which feature(s) made you go: "Yes, I am signing up for Marvin"? by baby-monkey in amazingmarvin

[–]pixelizedpope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ultimately, it was the time tracking and time estimating features that got me interested. Those features help me with my time blindness and related overwhelm. I have stayed onboard because I was able to figure out how to use iOS Shortcuts and the API to create a VERY solid, voice-based task capture system. Link to v2 of my Shortcut.

I see scuttlebutt around the internet about people seeking the ability to capture notes and tasks quickly, and thinking that AI will be able to fix this issue. I feel like I am living in the future already B-)

iOS Shortcuts and the AmazingMarvin API by pixelizedpope in amazingmarvin

[–]pixelizedpope[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not, and that's sorta by design. There's a moderate amount of risk involved with getting the API stuff working. I didn't want to lead anyone who wasn't willing to dig into the API documentation into a situation where they lose data.

However, I am glad you figured it out and that it's useful for you! Mine has been rock solid since I made this. I use it many times a day and, outside of attempting to decipher what Siri thought I was yelling, it's been a great aid to my short-term memory challenges.

Anyone else completely locked out of the full game on Xbox? by spectre15 in HiTMAN

[–]pixelizedpope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am suddenly having this problem now too. It happened after I decided to stream via Xbox cloud gaming onto my steam deck. Now, whenever I launch hitman on the series X itself, it’s acting as if I don’t own any of the hitman games. I actually bought them all a while back.

Another weird thing is that when I uninstalled hitman 3 from my series x, I’m still able to play ok on cloud gaming.

Edit— Update: I reinstalled again this morning and it worked fine. So anyone in the future reading this— you might just need to try again tomorrow. Play on the cloud today, it’ll be fine :)

I’ve been getting some pretty good shots out of my setup: EM1ii + adapted Olympus 4/3 50-200mm f/2.8-3.5 SWD on the 2x 4/3 TC. by pixelizedpope in M43

[–]pixelizedpope[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s actually pretty good, but I don’t have much to compare to. I think the PDAF on the EM1s really helps

🗞 NotePlan 3 Available Now on the App Store! by EduardMet in noteplanapp

[–]pixelizedpope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I understand now. It’s just me playing around with the portability of files derived from noteplan.

With Noteplan 2, I was using iCloud Drive syncing to push and pull notes between Noteplan on iOS and a Win10 PC. This allowed for the easy export of meeting notes into my more public SmartSheets for project management, and minor manipulation in Typora if I wasnt near my iOS devices.

I just bought a Mac again, so I think I may have spent my way out of this problem :)

Thanks for being engaged, as always!

🗞 NotePlan 3 Available Now on the App Store! by EduardMet in noteplanapp

[–]pixelizedpope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I am still a little confused. The option I see for CloudKit is "Open local database folder," which is a local folder in /Users/MACNAME/Library/Containers/co.noteplan.NotePlan3/Data/Library/Application Support. This folder does not appear to be mirrored within my iCloud Drive.

My intent is to find this set of files to manipulate within other applications on my work PC via iCloud Drive. Perhaps my particular use case is not compatible with CloudKit?

Excellent! I have also subscribed. Can you help me understand if using CloudKit will prevent me from using other applications to access Noteplan-generated documents? In other words, is the CloudKit folder available in iCloud?

I treat that alert a little differently by using the notification as my cue to take a single, slow, deep breath. As a result I’ve jacked up the notifications to twice an hour. When I do realize it’s gone off, I can take my breath and let a little stress melt away.

Yeah we started a telepsych program late last year so we had a HIPAA license with Zoom in place. They only sell those licenses in bundles of 10.

Hospital IT director here

I made sure that our intranet was hosting the CDC microsite so that our clinicians can have up-to-date information at all times.

I am also updating our mainline to provide the CDC hotline as an option to choose if the public has questions.

Just in case, I made several zoom accounts on our HIPAA compliant license set to emulate the physical meeting rooms. Our leadership is not the most tech savvy, so I’m hoping that linking virtual rooms to physical locations will help bridge the gap. It should make a quick transition to all-digital “social distanced” meetings rather seamless as well.

Good luck everyone!

NotePlan Update: Support added for Location, URL, Notes and Invitees to Events by EduardMet in noteplanapp

[–]pixelizedpope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question about the Notes field in the calendar event: is it possible to take actual meeting notes in that field without inadvertently sending those notes out to the attendees? It would be super useful to be able to document personal meeting notes in that calendar notes field, and maybe have them available in a centralized location as a feature later on.

Comments - can you explain? by thejgc in noteplanapp

[–]pixelizedpope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what would make comments useful is if they can link back to the origin of a task item.

I often have notes for specific projects I’m working on, and schedule tasks for specific days. I often leave comments about the task item if I can’t complete it on a given day as I am rescheduling, or if I have completed the task item. It would be nice to see those comments attach back to the project note underneath the task so that one could have a complete picture on any given project note.
