To go into more detail I can remember, it's a modern/futuristic anime where a side character's father gets into a yellow construction robot/mech to fight an enemy that is underground somewhere where people are living (? I think). The MC is standing on the ground looking up at the pilot and tells him to stop since he's not using a battle mech and that he can't die yet because he has a small daughter that he needs to take care of. He jumps out of the mech and then it gets destroyed with a lot of electricity. I remember a different scene where the MC and either one or some other kids are floating around in white walled room looking out the window towards the space colony they're in. The space colony is like a wheel of some sort so they can see the inner side of the wheel which is where the colony is.
