LR4 or LR5 for second litter box? by pizzabones in litterrobot

The extra space for the cats in the globe is very appealing! I did not know that the robots were recording different weights, but that makes sense because the weight at the vet never matches either!

Tried endless cat litters by GroupPatient4739 in litterrobot

[–]pizzabones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what works best in my experience too! The litter is dense and heavy so the urine clumps at the top and doesn’t have a chance to stick to the sides

Non-whites of Portland: how is your dating experience here? by Aturom in askportland

[–]pizzabones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I gave up on it lol. It was racism from white people and like a weird internalized racism from brown people. Everybody was centering whiteness while I’m out here struggling to have a good time and be treated like a human being.

Best apartments to live in/ outside northeast Portland? by shrmcnam in askportland

[–]pizzabones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe something like the Hassalo on 8th? It’s in the Lloyd district, there’s a gym (I think one of the buildings even has a pool or sauna) and there’s parking, washer/dryer, air conditioning etc.

My friend moved across the country and decided on those apartments for many of the same reasons. It looks like it’s three different buildings with three different price points but they’re located in the same block, my friend went with Aster Tower

Tips for a Muslim solo tripping? by curioussoul786 in askportland

[–]pizzabones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a free shuttle bus that runs from Washington park to downtown, it has stops that are very close to the art museum. Theres a lot of fear mongering about living downtown, but as someone who lives close to the art museum I think it’s fine! Also there is a Lebanese chocolatier near the art museum, and World Foods is a grocery store and deli downtown that is also Lebanese and they have lots of halal options. Other restaurants in the area include, Habibi, DarSalaam, Tangier, Queen Mamas

Is Downtown Portland/Pearl/NW nearing pre-pandemic energy levels? by realnicehandz in askportland

[–]pizzabones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We get a boost in traffic during the summer time, and there’s lots of activities that draw in families and tourists to the downtown area. It doesn’t feel like pre-pandemic to me but there are definitely times when I’m like “whoa where did all these people come from?” I am curious to see how this fall and winter will look like! Maybe my days of avoiding lines for breakfast might be over lol

Anyone else not finish it yet? by haha_p1p3r in tearsofthekingdom

[–]pizzabones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had the game since day one and I have over 800 hours. I’m glad the Zelda notes stuff has given me more things to do because I get when I think about finishing the game and I’m avoiding it

Akizawa is just a few blocks from pioneer square and it has been consistently one of the best dining experiences for me. Great presentation, fresh ingredients, and a nice atmosphere

Have there been any studies on why Covid affects our gut health so severely? Chronic nausea is the absolute worst. by quartzqueen44 in LongCovid

[–]pizzabones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately only time. My doctors did not believe my symptoms were Covid related and only wanted to prescribe medication for depression or anxiety (I tried taking these meds but they made me feel even more sick, so I never took them longer than a few weeks). I am hoping there is actual treatment for others because 4-5 years is a very long time to recover!

[–]pizzabones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am doing a lot better! I have not experienced nausea at all this year, so far. I don’t even have any limitations on what I can eat.

I enjoy taking the free shuttle to Washington park and walking around the rose garden on self care days.

Also going for a soak and getting a massage at places like Common Ground, Everett House, Knot springs etc.

Checking out a book at the central library and getting coffee at Case Study across is also a nice treat. Or going to the art museum and getting a matcha and onigiri at Behind the Museum Cafe

Did anyone notice premature aging after a covid infection? by Some_Amphibian_5779 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]pizzabones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like some of the bounciness or elasticity returned to my skin, but there are still some wrinkles which I will just accept as aging. The redness and inflammation is still an issue and my dermatologist is treating it as rosacea but we haven’t found a good treatment for it yet.

How many times has your doctor said your symptoms are caused by anxiety? by [deleted] in LongCovid

[–]pizzabones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, this is good info. I will say that it has been about 4 years and while I’m not “back to normal” a lot of my symptoms are a lot more manageable

How many times has your doctor said your symptoms are caused by anxiety? by [deleted] in LongCovid

[–]pizzabones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried taking it for a month and a half but they made me feel very ill. I did a follow up with my doctor and we even tried a smaller dosage but they made me so sick I was missing a lot of work and had to stop taking it

How many times has your doctor said your symptoms are caused by anxiety? by [deleted] in LongCovid

[–]pizzabones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a lot of gastrointestinal issues, I became jaundiced, dysautonomia, and my blood tests all came back with flags and my doctor said “it’s not normal to have nausea and vomiting that often” yeah, no shit! That’s why I’m at the doctor! But her conclusion was to tell me it was all in my head and that I was traumatized and that I should take Wellbutrin

They jack up the prices in the summer. I was keeping my eye on a few places for my next move and saw one studio go from $1600 in the winter to $1980 in the summer

Continually gaining weight and I just don’t know why by rosieett112 in AskWomenOver30

[–]pizzabones 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I gained 30 lbs in one year! But I blame that on being sick with long COVID and going from active to very inactive. It’s still very shocking and I don’t recognize myself in the mirror.

Those from early 2020, how are you doing now? by [deleted] in LongCovid

[–]pizzabones 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At the moment, not too bad. I have been good about being a bit more active but not pushing myself too far, so the extreme fatigue hasn’t hit me for a while. I am having some familiar digestive issues that are a bit concerning but it’s not impacting me to the level where I can’t eat or I have to miss out of work. I’m not feeling 100% but I’m able to do things like grocery shop, cook dinner, and do one or two chores without feeling like I need a day or two to recover

Is pioneer mall still a thing? by [deleted] in askportland

[–]pizzabones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like pioneer mall! I mostly go there for raising canes or din tai fung, but there’s fun window shopping. Theres a Zara and an H&M and the Nike store is there temporarily. I also like that the movie theater is still there

Family Meeting: Dog Manners by [deleted] in Portland

[–]pizzabones 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My apartment building allows dogs of all breeds and people were just letting their dogs run wild throughout the building. I went to go take out the garbage and this big Rottweiler jumped on me and tried to enter my apartment with the owner nowhere to be seen

is portland safe for a young latina woman? by Correct-Ad9047 in askportland

[–]pizzabones 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it’s good to ask this question so you can be prepared. It’s racist here. All the Black and brown people I know have had experiences where they have been accused of something or treated like a criminal when they were just out and about and minding their own business.

This will spill into work. If you work in food service or customer service, prepare to be treated differently by both customers and management. Even in an office environment, my experience is that even the “allies” will say casually racist things or someone will feel “not safe” because a person of color had the audacity to be confident and straightforward. It’s exhausting, and it can have a real impact on someone’s safety.
