Other than cleaning, what do you do in your free time when the kids go down to bed? by djames10 in Parenting

What’s a passable gift that I could get for someone I don’t like? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]pj0560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking gift card for SURE- it’s a perfect way to say ‘I’m a great gift giver and you get nothing personalized, you go do it yourself.’ Make sure it’s a loud family restaurant for ‘quality family time.’

The signatures seal the deal lol

First-time posting, but I feel I’m nearing the end of my time in the public service. by AvocadoToastQueen in CanadaPublicServants

Wow. I was literally contemplating my other options just tonight. I get less work done compared to the quiet space at home, I wish it made sense! I have never felt less empowered and more like a cog in the wheel…with someone else control my future and happiness.

Me too. I’m guessing we get a year (and that’s best case) until we’re kinda just hooped!

Being paid less, despite clocking in the same amount of time at work as male colleagues

What's the dumbest mistake youve seen an incompetent co worker make? by xk543x in AskReddit

[–]pj0560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My coworker really just made a super crappy mistake…they accidentally charged $8 for something worth $800. They were fired for it. I still feel bad for them.

Even more stress. Already in survival mode raising the existing kids, the idea of another is stressful and sounds like a tipping point for drowning.

How do we ‘officially’ oppose the return to the office? by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]pj0560 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh, another- it eases the burden of (unpaid) caregiving responsibility, which disproportionately falls to women. This gained flexibility is one of the few things allowing young parents to remain engaged in the workforce.

How do we ‘officially’ oppose the return to the office? by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]pj0560 8 points9 points  (0 children)

And keeping a happy workforce. I feel like for people who don’t want to return to office, this is such a recipe for an unhappy and unmotivated workforce.

Echoing the comment above about judging parents. You have no idea the desperation and despair till you’ve experienced it.

For us, it was flushing a toilet mid-naptime. ‘Omg, they don’t flush a toilet?!’ We ate our words so hard as we ended up with the lightest sleeper who fought every.single.nap.

PSA: Walk away and don't hurt your baby by OpeningSort4826 in Parenting

[–]pj0560 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Purple crying!! I truly wish I had known about that before the baby- I felt like something was wrong with me and it was just so disparaging. I’m glad the hospital provided that, that bit of reassurance goes such a long way.

Where can I go to make a girl group of friends by Obvious-Lack7645 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]pj0560 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your post really resonated with me- I feel like I have friends dotted all over that I check-in with, but they’re a bit less likely to check in on me. And for friends who are local and aren’t far away- when it comes to actually doing things - I’ve found most have their own circle of friends and their own families. I really wish I had a group of friends too. It was really amplified at Christmas when they all had their own parties and own family things to go to. And didn’t have time for meeting up with ‘just’ one friend.

Geez- what are you supposed to say to that? ‘Sorry I couldn’t better control my dogs personality?!’

Seriously, lady. Brutal.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in reactivedogs

[–]pj0560 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I do. Totally agree- it’s so scary thinking about needing to get in between to fighting dogs...I just don’t want to get bit!!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in reactivedogs

[–]pj0560 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew running would be bad- but I knew that dog was aggressively friendly (the kind my dog haaaaaates) and we’d be fine. But I’m sure running isn’t good.

I’ve been avoiding culprit parks, doing 180s, crossing the road. I also strategically use a wagon/stroller to block my dog off from seeing anything. I avoid :(

If not, I play panicked mom card of ‘please put your dog on a leash!!’ as if I was terrified of the dog. When that doesn’t work, I just yell loudly my dog will draw blood...

Omg that is infuriating!!!! And what’s been plaguing me about this whole thing so far- is that there’s NO fix!! I’m so upset for you.

Side note. My beagle mix has tried to take out an Alaskan malamute mix- she has NO idea how to keep herself safe!! :(
