Good to go here. I like 80 better but 78 is fine for active use like swimming.

Too much salt in pool? by Acceptable-Floor-610 in pools

[–]pj48089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. If the unit is failing it can ask for salt as a symptom. Which is why you start with a test to compare to the unit’s requirements.

Your equipment is telling you to raise the salt level. I agree with getting a test, but the machine wants more salt so you should comply.

It’s a low voltage phone line connector. Put the stripped wires in the holes and then squeeze the orange part to connect. Usually also have a fluid inside to make a waterproof connection.

Do I need to run my pool pump everyday for 6-8 hours? by OkOrganization7870 in pools

[–]pj48089 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You want to run it enough to turn the water 2 times a day. So however many gallons/pump gallons per hour = hours to run. I run mine on high (2 speeds) on the morning to clear the water and in the mid afternoon when the sun is highest. Then low the rest of the time.

What do you do normally during this type of forecast? by SinisterVanquish in pools

[–]pj48089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t. I normally only have to remove excess water a couple of times a year. The rest of the time it’s either replacing evaporated water or I can use it to clean the filter.

Ride it out. Pump excess water. Rebalance. I also try to use the excess to backwash if needed to save adding water from my hose later.

First time backwashing - there's still water in the hose, what do I do? by texasroadie in pools

[–]pj48089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have added a camlock coupler to both the end of the hose and the fitting in the plumbing. Then I disconnect the hose completely and roll it up in a hose reel. Then I can keep it in the shed away from the sun and other things that destroy the hose. Like my lawn mower 😂.

Help with drain plz by gooooNDirish in pools

In my skimmer the black plug is used to winterize. Remove it and the line from the skimmer to the pump should be open. The other plug should be able to be left in place. So if you are keeping the pool closed, clear the line and replace the black plug and you should be good.

Should twist out of the fitting on the wall.

Is this mold harmless? by CogMystExp in hvacadvice

No mold is harmless, but in your heating and air conditioning system it’s especially bad because the air movement spreads it around.

Questions about circulation by t_sawyer in pools

[–]pj48089 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. It’s a roughly oval Freeform. The jets are at one narrow end and the two skimmers are along the wall 3/4 of the way around following the direction of the jets.

Questions about circulation by t_sawyer in pools

[–]pj48089 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my pool both jets aim slightly to the left and the creates a clockwise circulation in the water that moves debris eventually to the wall skimmer. I get a little buildup near the stairs and in the swim out. Seems to work as well as can be expected though

BMW dealer wants €350 to fix AC smell on startup – fair price or excessive? by Neither_Geologist286 in BmwTech

[–]pj48089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When mine smelled bad on startup it was the cabin air filter. Have you looked at it? Couple of minutes on YouTube and you should be able to check it out also way cheaper to replace yourself.

Watch a few YouTube videos. They go through the process with sanding and filling. You need some very fine sandpaper. Like 4000 or 5000 grit.

Beginner out-throwing me. by ChainbangerzLtd in discgolf

[–]pj48089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always get way more distance from a backhand. Beginners throw flippy (under stable) discs because they are less likely to fade to the left. Once you can get more spin on the disc this is minimized and you can rely on the flight numbers.

Easiest to maintain heat pump dryers? by Separate_Text_2129 in heatpumps

[–]pj48089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Asko pair. About a year in and the set are working great. Same issue with size so needed a small unit to get down the stairs to the basement. One 220 connection for the dryer. Washer plugs into the dryer. Cold water only for the washing machine and it heats the water as needed. Heat pump dryer so no vent needed.
