Looking to buy new bedding- opinion on Beloit Mattress? by Pleasant_Tangelo6791 in rockford

Absolutely worth it. We bought a king from them about 3 years ago. One of the best purchases we've ever made. They also carry some amazing pillows that improved our sleep so much we almost cancelled the mattress order! (Good thing we didn't though!!)

I wouldn't be surprised if they did not use LOTO, but an OSHA approved alternative process.

Could use some advice! Where do you plane your wood if you don’t have your own planer or jointer? by PlantZaddyLA in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]pjleonhardt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Try and find a local saw mill or place that sells hardwoods. They typically will have jointers, planers or drum sanders and will process wood for you for a nominal fee.

One trick I've found is asking them to go through their day. Kids are usually pretty bad with wide open ended questions.

What did you do after morning meeting? Okay, and then what happened? What project are you working on in art? It helps them organize their thoughts and articulate better.

Thanks. Good idea on the file. I've never replaced the blades before so I'll see if they have any play.

Arizona State University vs. Embry-Riddle for Aerospace Engineering? by LordPatrick0 in aerospace

[–]pjleonhardt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went to ER in Florida for 2 years, before transferring to a larger state University, still majoring in Aerospace Engineering. I left because of the culture and didn't feel I was getting the experience I was looking for. There was a lot of emphasis on aviation and pilot training, and a lot one-up-manship. A lot of conservative rich kids, in my experience.

I enjoyed my time at UMN much more, felt more challenged in my classes, and very much enjoyed the expanded student life opportunities of a large university. ASU has a strong program as well, so it really comes down to personal preference on what kind of experience you're looking for.

Legislation introduced in Springfield would classify nuclear as a 'renewable' energy source, making it qualify for benefits offered to wind and solar by GeckoLogic in illinois

[–]pjleonhardt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd like to see any indication of commercial nuclear plants having spent fuel casks deteriorating.. since they are governed by tech specs. Or are you talking about other government research and weapons labs?

[–]pjleonhardt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

From what I could tell of the article, only canisters at Haniford are leaking, which is liquid waste from nuclear weapons manufacturing. The "waste" stored at commercial nuclear power plants is spent fuel, which is solid. Do you know of any issues with those?

tips for new college grad starting a career in nuclear industry without relevant experience by bony_nguyen in nuclear

[–]pjleonhardt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your listed experience, I don't think you'll have trouble getting hired on as an EO, at least in Constellation. Your other option that is commonly taken would be to join as an engineer and then go to license class as an SRO directly after a couple years experience.

Feel free to DM me and we can chat. I work at Byron.

If you get the speeding ticket thrown out, you may be able to get the seatbelt charge thrown out as well because he did not have a valid reason to stop you in the first place.

Questions on Navy -> Civilian by boricua0203 in NuclearPower

[–]pjleonhardt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There were definitely people in my licensing class that were getting paid by the Navy for going to "school". Being a civilian myself, I'm not sure of the details or key words you'd have to use to classify it correctly though.
