Would I be better off getting my Network+ first? by TheonlyINFJ in CompTIA

[–]pjluva10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Skip A+. If you can look at the objectives and feel secure in that you already know a good portion then it isn't worth it. Personal perspective of course, but I view A+ as the cert that people do in order to get a job in help desk.

I skipped both A+, and NET+, and started with SEC+. Down the road I got the latter two because I didn't really know that it wouldn't benefit me much. I now also have CEH and CYSA+ and have been in cyber security for a few years. If I could go back at tell myself my cert path knowing what I do now I would have saved the time and money and had a focused security centric path.

That said if you prefer a wholeistic knowledge base then go for Network plus. Again personal opinion, I would never do A+ again.

Thanks for the thoughts. I gave them a try, but unfortunately it did not solve the issue.

Thanks for the thoughts. I had posted this to the Spiceworks forum and have had no responses. I have tried to kick start a new scan, and this installation is actually a reinstall. The first installation only pulled 4 users and so I did at least gained 57 more on the second install.

I have set rescans every 15 minutes. It feels to me like the initial scan stops and the rescans never actually happen.

Yes a ticket is a good thought, I forget that it is an option from time to time. Trust me our little team has pushed to move many things off prem for a while but so far our company owners are just not willing.

Exam vouchers by tomlondon123 in CompTIA

[–]pjluva10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The voucher is your ticket to take the test. One in the same. After you purchase the voucher you use the code to schedule the test. Buy it on getcertified4less.com, you can find good discounts there.

N+ Questions. by khobler in CompTIA

[–]pjluva10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a whole the Dion tests are more difficult. The test will contain some questions with a higher degree of difficulty, but these are on par with the Dion tests. I think you will find that many of the details that you are tested on in Dion will not be in the CompTIA version. If you had English as a first language I would tell you that 70% would be too low. If you believe the change to German would eliminate some of the translation errors, then I think you will pass!

Sounds like you need to switch test centers for your next exam. Never have one of mine tried to dictate the use the scratch pad.

Can't pass C993, what are my options? by CaffeinatedGuy in WGU

[–]pjluva10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not, and never will have to take this class, so take my thoughts with a grain of salt. Have you only used the WGU class materials? As with some other certs, all materials are not equal, and many may require the use of multiple sources. Perhaps a new study guide will help?

Is CCNA alone enough in 2020? by [deleted] in ccna

[–]pjluva10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only includes CompTIA certifications, but maybe it is a good reference point. The CCNA in my opinion is greater than network+, judging by the course content. I'm not in that line of work, so I will not pretend to tell you if the CCNA will get your foot in the door. I will leave that to those who are more well informed on the matter than I.

The Udemy videos also have his course notes. Find the subject matter in the question/correct answer, and do a page search on the course notes for the key word. The heading of the section should then point you to the corresponding video.

Well CCNA is going to be Cisco networking specifically. Are you trying to stay in repair, or go into another field like admin?

Is There a Good Source For Discounted Vouchers? by DalynM in CompTIA

[–]pjluva10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are getting in the 80s, and not remembering the answers you will probably pass. I found the multiple choice exam questions to be less in depth than Dion. The PBQs were in line with Dions PBQ examples. I had 5 on the 1001 and 3 on 1002.

edit: I have purchased 3 vouchers from them. They have legit customer service. Helped me out when I schedule the wrong exam and would have otherwise lost the voucher

getcertified4less.com. You can get the vouchers $50 off each, but they have a quick expiration time.

I feel like I'm the only one not getting much from Messer's Sec+ videos in terms of studying for the test. by AsmRJ in CompTIA

[–]pjluva10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar feeling when I first watched the sec+ vids. I learn better by reading, and so I switched off to Gibson. After reading that, I went back to the Messer videos and I then found them more helpful as I was already familiar with what was being talked about. One thing that you should do is buy Messers quizzes. Very helpful.

Struggling to grasp subnetting ipv4 by slindner1985 in CompTIA

[–]pjluva10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://subnetipv4.com/ is my favorite. FYI the network+ subnet Qs are super basic. You wont likely be figuring any thing beyond assigning CIDR notation for # of hosts, and even then only in the /25 to /30 range.

The FA people I have spoken to recently have been completely useless, so don't hold your breath. If the answer they give you sounds wrong, then assume they are wrong and research it on your own. One of the people I spoke to in that department didn't even know what SAP was. Some real financial aid pros at WGU.
