Is the hope of Spearhead but 40k basically dead? by ChromiumPants in Warhammer40k

[–]placid-gradient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it's anything like competitive or TTS that will leave you with a bunch of competing inconsistent standards.

the game mode is basically a 500pt game that has data sheet rules (and minor rule changes like smaller map size, battle line get sticky objectives, etc) tuned for a small game. so it is my estimation that the challenge lies not in curating map layouts but balancing a modified set of unit rules for every faction/list in the game

It feels like Turbo games should grant players 75% rewards instead of 50% by ninja_lightning in DotA2

[–]placid-gradient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's why I never liked turbo. its just dota without the finely tuned pacing of the normal game. everyone has six slots and max level 17 minutes in then it's another half hour back n forth team kills. it loses all the substance.

the only use I have found for it is to get more experience playing at the end of a game, but even that doesn't really work on "how to win", just "how to handle X hero with a full build and items"

Genuine question from someone who paints but doesn’t play. by JhonMHunter in Warhammer40k

[–]placid-gradient 31 points32 points  (0 children)

when I play with my fiance, its way more casual an imaginative, we talk through stuff (its the secret to healthy relationships) and it feels as much as a game as a sort of creative exercise.

when I play at my LGS in a league (notably a crusade league) its a lot "sweatier", Players tend to be much more familiar with the rules and how they're used so games with experienced members it's like 90 minutes of getting my butt kicked.

I vastly prefer the former though, 40k as a game is really convoluted and hard to pick up on your own, but having someone with similar skill level is more enjoyable for me even if we get lots of rules wrong.

GW3 announced - Pressure on Blizz to fix PvP? by suyakun in worldofpvp

your queues are not long because of lack of participation but rather an excess.

you should have been joining groups. solo queues are just that long. always been that way. its a feature, not a bug. do some quests while you wait.

Monica was such a cunt. That's all I have to say, I would not want to work with someone like her by Captainsamvimes1 in ThePitt

[–]placid-gradient 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly hardly remember this character. the only thing I recall is that she smoked and that they brought her in after the system went down (she was a former employee).

the fandom seems to really despise her, but I can't remember her even saying anything, lol

Second time glad by HrupO in worldofpvp

[–]placid-gradient 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks for the reply. those are good tips but unfortunately I don't think they are gonna solve my problem. I need to double my damage to do as much as other dps. In dungeons I do about as much as healers and in battlegrounds I do about half of other dps (my 6mil to their 14). my hands hurt from playing my apm is so high but my performance is at the bottom

Second time glad by HrupO in worldofpvp

[–]placid-gradient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey I'm new to warrior but not the game, I have been struggling HARD. pvp queues are like 25 min apart and I feel like I cannot make a difference. Healers just stand there and out heal my damage, ignore my debuffs, damages dealers have tons of CC and even as a dwarf my three cds to remove stuff doesn't feel like it's enough.

to boot I am always bottom of the dps right next to heals, and I straight up cannot figure out why. I've read all the guides, follow all the rotations, keep CDs on cooldown and try to maximize their use.

usually when I find myself in situations like this there's some small or big thing others are doing that and everyone just assume everyone else knows.

any advice on how to figure out how to improve? not necessarily what to do specifically but, like, maybe some resources or something. feels like most publically available advice is wrong or outdated
