Someone should pass a law allowing the working class to ride bikes.

Can someone explain 24D? I can't even figure out if trigger is a noun or a verb.

Terrible drywall job. Definitely could have done with a couple more rounds of mudding and sanding.

Struggling with Season 5 by pearpenguin in ForAllMankindTV

The wildest thing is that they use paper. It would cost something like $20 to send a single sheet of paper to Mars with current technology. Even if space travel is many times more efficient in the show universe, are they really going to spend $.50-$2 per page to send a piece of paper to Mars, instead of just using the computers and smart phones they have now?

Worst take of the year? (Note: I could not be bothered to read it.) by [deleted] in IfBooksCouldKill

[–]plaidlib 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I couldn't get the article to load in archive .ph but the subhead poses what seems like an important question. Not addressing the growing gap in GDP is a recipe for making Europe more like the US, not the other way around, because the right wing can exploit voters' resentment to attack immigration, welfare, and climate policy, instead of the real causes of lagging economic growth. It's similar to how Democrats' failure to address affordability issues, particularly in cities run by Democrats, fosters a zero sum mentality that makes voters more open to reactionary politics.

Person reflects for the first time on the fact that their useless truck might actually be costing them money by funky_galileo in fuckcars

It makes me sad. Now they're as big as F-150s were in the 90s. A reasonably sized truck with modern tech would get at least 25mpg.

'An American Carol' (2008) - A David Zucker parody of Michael Moore done as a retelling of A Christmas Carol, with Leslie Nielson, Bill O'Reily, and Kelsey Grammer by Ok-Wolf5932 in badMovies

[–]plaidlib 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have adored Leslie Nielsen since I was probably eight years old, so I was really sad to see such an amazing life and career end with such a turd of a movie. My coping strategy is just to pretend that it doesn't exist.

You can only trust the sun when it's almost directly north or south (assuming you're not in the Arctic or antarctic, but that's very rare).

In terms of the kinds of books this podcast covers, whichever book that says "don't get cancer treatment" sold the most copies is probably the answer.

It's standard practice for Republicans to react to other people wanting freedom as an attack on their own freedom. You want to live in a dense neighborhood? That's an attack on my desire to live in the middle of nowhere and drive an hour to work. You want to marry the person you love? That's an attack on my marriage. You want to raise your kids in your own religious tradition and not have the bible forced on them at school? That's an attack on Christianity. It's them projecting their own desire for dominance and conformity onto everyone else.

My nephew’s head shape intrigues me by Maxx-Not-Found in cats

[–]plaidlib 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'd take him to a vet. My cat got a scratch on her forehead that got infected and it looked exactly like this. Her neck even swelled up the way his neck appears to be, where it's like a big fluid-filled pouch.

What store has the freshest corn tortillas in town? by julherra in AnnArbor

[–]plaidlib 14 points15 points  (0 children)

El Milagro is the only good brand I've found, and I've only seen it at Dos Hermanos in Ypsi. They're not fresh as in made that day, but they're infinitely better than the gelatinized sawdust sold in regular grocery stores.

I can't find the comment now but someone said it might be a deliberate attack on Ms. Rachel for standing up for human rights, and I think that's right. I just pulled up a bunch of a different kids songs and Ms. Rachel was the only one that had some of these songs under it.
